Hey guys, sorry if i did not search hard enough. But, i cannot find any recent guides on how to pirate in high sec really. The miner changes make it feel like no one mines into cans for can flipping anymore. Is there an updated guide that could help someone who is interested in this?

Start here.

High-sec pirating is a pretty loose description of what you want to do, can you be more specific?

If you have the patience, the real booty is in ganking T1 haulers, I would start with miners so you can keep it really cheap and engaging until you get a stronger understanding of the mechanics. Also, ganking T1 haulers requires multiple accounts and/or friends.

Ransoming in high-sec requires baiting someone into attacking you, ask Ralph and/or read Feyd's blog. You can also get creative.

in order to gank miners(and i am probably confused on this) I need to get them to flag on me yes, as in, can flipping? Or do people just try to pod them before Concorde gets to them these days?

You can still try to trick them with tactics like inviting them to a duel and hoping they are stupid or click the wrong button, but yes suicide ganking gives you more control over your targets assuming you don't mind losing your ship and is more the norm now.

Prettymuch you're going to need to be suicide ganking targets, wardeccing or being a PVP wizard like feyd and finding(and baiting) idiot mission runners into shooting you first.

As others have said, T1 haulers are the real loot pinatas.

Ideally, you want 3 people/accounts to do it.

Person One sits on a trade pipe scanning T1 haulers. Make sure you fit a passive targeting array. As soon as you find a good target....

Person Two is one system over in the gank ship. Usually a catalyst will suffice for a T1 hauler, although be aware of 'Fast' T1 haulers(Wreathe, Sigil, Nereus, Badger) as these can potentially be well tanked against you. Once your target jumps through the gate, engage and destroy him.

Person Three is in a hauler and scoops the loot from the target as soon as they pop from the gank ship. Make sure that you are prepared to warp out as soon as you scoop, as you will be suspect flagged.

Yes we just kill them before CONCORD kills us. Also freighters, it's a lot of fun.

Check the ganking section on the minerbumping site for more information about how to do it (We also have a ship replacement program), and this for CONCORD response times. Check our killboard for the latest fits

You can't use a catalyst if they are not auto piloting.

Keep in mind there are gate guns and spawn distance from zero on a non-regional gate is 15-20km, you can't get the range required without losing the required tank to survive long enough under gate gun fire. I did come up with a railfit that may work with two pilots but if you add tags into the equation it is cheaper to use 1 cruiser.

Being a highsec pirate generally boils down to a few different play styles.

Wardecs, Declaring war on another corp, allowing you fire freely on them without CONCORD

Ganking, Ganking is applying enough DPS to a ship that generally has low EHP, (Mining barges and T1 Haulers) before CONCORD

Suspect Baiting, making yourself suspect and allowing people to shoot at you to get a limited engagement timer with them, then allowing your timer to run in a away that you can kill one our two targets without other people intervening.

Mission loot theft, can flipping, scanning down a missioners room, and taking a vital part of the missioners loot, usually a gate key or such, this will make you suspect, but since its just and the mission runner, you don't have to worry about all of local. If mission runner shoot at you in his leet battleship, you can now either quickly run to a station and switch ships. Or B, take him on right there. Usually done with assault frigs and such,

Don't can-flip mission loot, just steal it. IIRC if you drop a can while having a suspect flag the can is marked as abandoned (blue) by the game, which means anybody can take from it without being flagged for combat.*

Offer to sell them the loot back, for a small handling charge or if your mark takes a potshot at you, kick their arse.

*Someone correct this if it's wrong, I haven't can-flipped anybody since crimewatch 2.0 changed the mechanic.

oh hi der.

Op.

My advice is read the blog.
specifically this post.

Not to fob you off but everything you need to start flipping bears is in there,
I frequently refferance it.

The only thing needs saying is you will need to be patient, about 1 in 8 ish will agrees (sometimes none though)

great fun if you're looking for combat probing experience, which is never a bad thing.

Theirs something magical about it when you hit their hull and they ask for a random,
you know it's going to be an expensive loss.

The game has been balanced into solo-afk high-sec pve players vs the entire CFC and CODE. Your only hope is to join the New Order...

There's still plenty you can do to give people a bad day on your own, like ninja-salvaging and suspect baiting, but who am I kidding. the most reliable way to kill someone in high-sec is still to drop the Ministry of Love on them.

For more information on the New Order of High-Sec, please visit: http://www.minerbumping.com/

Remember that whenever you have a bad day in EVE, the correct reponse is "Thank you CCP, may I please have another?"

While the above info is good, it seems they have forgotten one classic method of piracy, to wit, infiltration/awoxing.

Even with the changes coming in the February patch (corp safety switch), given the usual lack of intelligence in most hisec (and sometimes low/null) corps/alliances sneaking in and making off with the swag (or ransoming their shiny Orca at the weekly corp mining op....) is still completely viable.

Also, remember to save the chat logs, especially if they give you director roles in under 30 minutes.
