Isn't it about time the Capacitor and Module UI was updated?

Using linear indicators instead of circles for the shields, armor, hull and capacitor would be a more compact and leave more usable space on a rectangular screen and I would not mind this change.

The icons and basic layout idea for modules is not bad but even then could use some work.

On the other hand if it is not changed then that is OK with me as well.

The one big issue with current module UI is overheating. It's difficult to tell when it's on sometimes, and awkward to turn on & off.
The ability for more clear overheating, as well as the ability to do things like queue a reload at the end of the current cycle would help a lot.
Lasers 'instant reload' is actually more normally 3 seconds at least to change crystals, since you have to wait for the cycle to end, and you then have to wait for the next server tick after the cycle ends, and only then can you actually change the crystal which requires menu navigation, then you have to reactivate the laser.
So once you have done all that a supposedly instant thing is actually several seconds because of the UI.

So, the module UI could use some work to help things like reloads and script changes and overheating states.

How is a bright green light hard to see? And how is shift+click hard to do

The UI overall, not just the circular health indicator, lacks visceral presence.

Then CCP shouldn't have changed their original capacitor and module UI. Blink

1. More circles. Especially more radial menus.

2. I rather keep the tooltips filled with information. I do not fancy opening the fitting window everytime I want to see how far my weapons can shoot when I am under heavy ewar pressure or change ammo to check whether I loaded the correct ammo (it is still very confusing to me in case of Hybrids). But additional functionality besides the information can certainly be included.

3. You use the buttons? I only use the to see whether I am overheating or not at all. For activating/deactivating I use the much more convenient Shift + Click. For that purpose, their size is sufficient.

4. Search already finds stuff in containers since a couple of expansions. You can already go to the station tab and see every station individually. That should maybe extended with a drop down menu to load other stations than the one you are in.

1. that'll do. I like the style of the radial menu and the ui elements for autopilot, system info and mission tracking. more of that please.
2. that is what I meant. getting rid of all information is stupid.
3. i'm not crazy. but why you could ask why these buttons have that function in the first place.
4. didn't know that. thanks for the information.

Yes. But as I mentioned it is easier to make circles look nice (but that could be just me).

And generally:
Check which functions are usually needed in the heat of battle and make reasonably large indicators (e.g. overheating) plus easily reachable buttons + hotkeys (hotkeys are fine, I think). Everything else can go in secondary menus and windows.

I don't understand why a little bunch of people are pushing for updated UI... I actually prefer to keep it this way.
