what non-attribute implants are there for a harbinger flying pilot that won't break the bank?

There are two questions that you always want to ask yourself:

What does my ship do?

and...

What do I do badly?

The answers to these questions will generally direct you to the item (implant, in this case) that you need.

Harbinger

The Harbinger is a Amarr Battlecruiser. It armor tanks, and uses lasers (pew pew).

So, for your ship, I would suggest gunnery implants that buff medium lasers... either adding damage, increasing rate of fire, or reducing the cap use for each shot.

What do you do badly? If you don't hit hard and have plenty of cap, I would increase damage or rate of fire. If you find yourself with cap stability issues, I would look at reducing cap usage per shot.

Follow the same general logic for the armor tanking side of things. Want more armor, faster repair, more repair per cycle, etc...?

When you look at the slot 6 implants in the market window, they are broken down by category (electronics, gunnery, armor, shield, etc). Look at the categories that apply to what you do badly or what your ship specs are, and pick your implants accordingly.

Note... these implants are available from most loyalty point stores, so run some missions and buy your implants with Loyalty Points, saving ISK>

okay so i put in

Inherent Implants 'Squire' pg2 (powergrid)
Zainou 'Gypsy' knb-25 (targeting speed)
Zainou 'Gypsy' kpb-25 (targeting range)
Zainou 'Deadeye' zga100 (3% optimal range)
Zainou 'Gnome' kza500 (lowers turret cpu needs)

whatcha think? they're all fairly cheap >2m isk each, some as low as 100k

The squire pg 4 is a better option to get as I have found that lasers and armor tanks with mwds are powergrid heavy.. even with eng lv 5...

The clone in which I started my "career" (heh) has 3% implants for capacitor amount, capacitor recharge, turret tracking, turret damage and armor hp (flying a armor tanked gunboat, which is also true for a Harby).

They didn't break my bank.

That said, when moving on I found out capacitor can be dealt with in other ways, and cpu and powergrid become more important for fitting those "heavier" modules.

But generally, I think 3% implants are cheap enough.

well, let's see now...i kept plugging away on the affordable implants and came up with two options.

cpu bonus
Attribute implants - Basic = 7-8m isk each
'Gypsy' KMB-50 = 20m isk
'Lancer' G1-Beta = 10-25m isk
'Gypsy' KPB-50 = 22-39m isk
'Deadeye' ZGA100 = 1m isk (23-65m isk for zga1000)
'Gnome' KZA1000 = 0.5m isk (25-38m isk for kza2000)

power bonus
swaps out the slot6 implant for a PG4 (jump clone stuff) = 21m isk

G2-gamma should be affordable and is hands down the best thing you can do for that ship, throw CX-1 on top if you want.

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

hey, cool. thx Ott! That stuff put my DPS past 600...and the slots it took over were the long range pair of implants i was using. Guess i'll just keep a jumpclone specializing in harby stuff. haha

Would you get into a Legion and do Incursions (for instance) then they'll also help you a great deal.

Well, the G2-gamma is 5% medium laser damage and that's listed on EVE-Central as going for 14m isk minimum. Wish it was 5m isk though =)

i was looking at setup and realized my harby fitting doesn't need CPU nor PWR boosts via implants so here's some affordable implants i'm going for:
ZET100
G1-Beta
G2-Gamma
CX-1
ZET500

For my Naga snipe fit i use instead:
KMB-50
G1-Beta
KPB-50
ZGA1000
KZA2000

and, yes, the PG4 is surprisingly inexpensive vs the value of such a thing if one needs MOAR power

speaking of...what is the whole "omega" kind of implant? i've never really understood those types. what does a full set of omega give in bonuses?

"Omega" implants usually boost the power of an entire set of implants. So for example you might be looking at the "Virtue" set for enhancing your probing skills. The Virtua Alpha through Epsilon implants occupy slots 1-5, while the "Virtue Omega" implant occupies slot 6, and boosts the power of the Virtue set by 25%. The Omega implants by themselves do nothing.

alright...the slave set looks sweet for a buffer tank harby but the cost starts to go through the roof for something that is the equivalent of an extra 800mm plate.

low grade slave

alpha = 20m
beta = 32m
delta=75m
epsilon=137m
gamma=56m
omega=269m

checking eve-central for prices and it looks like most 'pirate' implants skyrocket from alpha through omega just like the above...although there are exceptions like the 'grail' set which is pretty cheap compared to the rest (radar sensor strength)
