New Notifications - official feedback thread

The work on the notification system is great, just one little thing.

I do not get any notice of a Contract assigned to me, or my Corp. I could have sworn we used to get those.

After using these for a while I would like to see the ability to archive notifications, and mark notifications individually as "pinned" and also as "unread".

Currently you either have tons of notifications, or they are all removed from the feed entirely. It would be nice to archive those that I don't care about from the notifications feed itself via right-click. Double-clicking on a notification or the feed window can open a notifications window that gives you more detail and control:

delete forever,
archive,
mark as pinned,
mark as unread,
sort by[...]),
search,
etc

Being able to mark a notification as "pinned" allows me to remind myself that there are things that require attention and can be displayed at the top with a green or yellow background. For example, if I have 3 unread notifications, I have a little "3" badge in my feed icon and it's red. Perhaps there can be a green or yellow badge with "2" if I have 2 pinned notifications.

So as part of fixing the "always blinking even without new emails/notifications" bug, you seemed to break notifications entirely. Making it so that if someone would have to open up their mail and check the notifications area if they wanted to see if they had a new war dec email. Now granted yes I do like unsuspecting targets to not know that I just dec'd them even if they were online at the time, but it feels a touch dirty to dec people or take down their pos knowing that they won't get a blinky telling them something is wrong or bad now.

So if CCP isn't planning on fixing this I need to find some more towers to hit, as long as they are cool with it not being an exploit in that I am taking advantage of them breaking how a player is notified of something that drastically affects them.

Ahh, so they work just like the Insurance. Only get those when I open the Insurance window in the station.

Good luck with that. I asked about the old email notifications not blinking for my mail anymore, and they responded with "working as intended". They turned off the old email notifications from blinking on your mail icon because they feel that they are less important than normal emails. Appears they have extended this pre-determination of what players need to see or is important to know to contracts as well. Because you know, it will also show up in your notifications history if you want to open that window to see if anything new has shown up that you didn't want to spam across your screen now instead of the old icon just blinked instead.

I have also requested that if this is their position that they at least give us options to control what blinks and doesn't blink all the various neocom icons, like the wallet, mine will blink when a corp mate is doing missions and collecting bounties, and I would really like to turn that off. I only want my wallet to blink if it directly affects my wallet, not corp.

Another example of bad icon planning is the character sheet, I have a link to my character sheet via the profile pic, yet when i click on that i will get an additional character sheet icon that pops onto my neocom (really, I need 2 separate icons for the same window?). Same is true for the skill queue. And notifications for completed skills. Not only does it tell you when you log in, but it will give you multiple verbal queues (loud ding and a voice msg) and it will blink your character sheet and the little blue bar on the skill icon resets back to not full.

And finally, I'm curious to see if the famous now almost 2 year old kill rights icon display bug will finally be fixed. But at the same time if it really does get fixed I will be sad because I already bought gifts for its 2nd birthday and can't return them :(

I put the contracts icon in the Neocon and it flashes there.

When I get a new notification with a popup and click on that popup, I would like to have the blue counter go away or decrease. Right now I click on the popup, then on the Notif icon and then again or in empty space to close notifications; that's awful.

I think it would be really hand if the one could integrate the notification button into the neoco. Like right above the time /calender button. you can drag and drop it there but it just does not seem integrated when i dump it there ;)

Can't agree more!

The removal of blinking notifications on the Neocom icons is a very damn bad decision.

I don't want the new notification system.
It isn't well designed as you didn't listen to feedback.
Can't find any good place to put this damn "always on top" button and the width is still not resizable...

So now my only option is to regularly and manually check if I have new notifications by opening the mail window.

You designed this new gadget (this isn't anything else) because you wanted a whole more consistent notification system (everything in the same place you said) but it has never been as inconsistent as it is actually.

What a great step backward! (...)

Give us back at least the option to choose what should blink and what shouldn't
And give us more option to customize the gadget (resizable width and the possibility to disable the "always on top" "feature").

Have to say I do NOT like the new notifications, the narrow block of text that pops up, is not handy to read, and the always-on-top button is always in the way, even when there are no notifications.

After using it for a month, this is how I use the system:
I click it ONLY to make the blue glow go away, and then search around to find what I could have been getting notified of.

I really cant call this functional to be honest.

Hi,

The new notification system is now already some time in use. Are there any upcoming changes new features planned on this.

At the moment I'm missing a way to filter out certain message types.

E.g. I like to have on an account the notifications popping up of some contacts when coming online or logging off. Problem is that these kind of notifications can mess up the visibility of other notifications quite a lot.

Would be great if we can have an easier way of filtering message (eg toggle buttons when notification window is open) another possibility could be tabs like in the overview and only show notifications of the selected tab, etc
