Questions about auto-targeting and kill rights

So I have few questions. Lets say I'm in a highsec mission and a ninja looter comes by and steals some loot so he is red to me with the intention of getting me to attack him.

Question 1
If I'm using FoF missles, will they auto target him? And if they do target him, does that count as a pvp action where if the fof missles kill him, then he will get kill rights on me?

Question 2
If I put my drones on aggressive, then will they eventually auto attack the looter?

....My first thought for these is that the fof missles and drones will not auto target him unless he attacks me.....

Question 3
Say the looter does attack me and he gets concorded while I have FoF missles and drones on auto. If they auto target him, does that mean that he will get kill rights on me? Or since it was a concordable action, then he will not get any rights.




Nevermind that fof's are nearly useless, its more of a question of what if.

Not sure about the FOFs but drones even on aggressive will not attack until the guy does something aggressive to you first. This is the difference between stealing from you and turning red, and him trying to shoot you and getting red brackets on him. (Yellow means he has you locked.)

If you do ANYTHING aggressive to him whether or not CONCORD comes, he can legally shoot you for 15 min to retaliate. This means that if he gets him self CONCORDED and your drone join in on the fight he can come back within 15 minutes of w/e ship he wants and blow you out of the sky.

Be VERY suspicious of ninjas that try to pick a fight in something small and silly like a T1 frigate, it's just the bait. If you dock up and let the 15 min expire then you'll be fine. Even if you succeed in killing him your self. The month long kill rights are only from unprovoked kills.

Thanks for the info.

I just tested the FOF's and they wont auto-target a looter unless he attacks me, so I guess it's just like the drones.

I think FoFs work only against people actively shooting at you.

If he got CONCORDed, then he'll be GCC for 15 minutes and will pretty much have to sit in station. So...technically yes, but he can't really do anything with those attack rights.

FoFs are to allow missile ships to retaliate when they're being ECM'd.




Anyway, OP: I have spent a huge percentage of my EVE time since 2007 (when I started) ninjasalvaging/looing. I wrote the first guide to ninjasalvaging I've ganked a rather large number of ships doing this. Take it from me when I say that you should never, under any circumstances shoot a ninja. Unless he is ninjaing in an expensive ship which you can easily kill (and those two are generally mutually exclusive, especially since you won't have a point), you will accomplish nothing other than giving him the opportunity to gank your missionboat. Nothing good will come of it.

fun sidenote: When he loots, he aggression your entire (player) corporation. If you really, really wanted to do something, you could have a corpie swing by in a taranis to kill his ship without subjecting your mission ship to attack rights.

The up to date firefox thingy I have isn't good enough?.....and what the hell is postdata and how do I stop anything like that saving everything I type?
