In the course of about 2 days, I managed to reach L3 missions for the minmatar republic, however now that I can no longer use my Republic Fleet firetail, I need a new ship that can both evade the gate camps along the way, and finish the mission in one piece. What minmatar ship do you recommend I use?

Don't know about the ability for the Duct-tape race, but the Harpy can do L3 missions.

I can only use Minmatar ships or anything utilizing projectile weapon systems.

Either use a battlecruiser or faction or t2 frigates/cruisers. Ideally you would not just use one, but alternate as you learn particular missions or look them up. Missions that are several jumps out and easy can be done in half the time using an assault frig. The hardest missions are naturally safest in a battlecruiser, mainly because its a small risk and hard to lose one accidentaly. I use a Hawk, Worm or Gila

Why do you think? It's what ive trained for. As for using BC's i cant because my location is infamous for gate camps. A hurricane would be too slow. I also cannot dock in those systems because i am in faction warfare.

Are you talking about regular L3 security missions or specifically about factional warfare missions?

Faction warfare agent missions.

A purifier would be the most efficient for level 3 and 4s. If you want to keep it minmatar ships only then, a hound with EM torpedoes might work. Considering most missions are hit and run, most minmatar cruisers/hacs would work. Just make sure to be quick and use the right ammo. :P

I've run highsec lvl 3 missions in an armor-tanked Wolf without too much trouble.
Trivial against Sansha and Bloodraiders (EM+Thermic damage is laughable against it), other enemies require a bit more caution, but still very doable.

That being said, FW missions are very different from normal highsec missions and I don't have that much experience with them. As Tibo said, many players use Bombers to run them.

Stealth bombers are by far the best option if you are skilled into them.

Seconding this. Everybody and their grandma uses SB's for faction warfare missions and it's a well known tactic.

It's probably also one of your only viable options because anything that isn't a cloaky is going to get caught on those gate camps you keep mentioning - Doesn't matter if it's an AF or a BC, it will die if it comes across a semi-decent camp.

Use the SB, otherwise try an AF.

He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.

He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.

For L3 missions use a cruiser or battlecruiser..

OP - please note that there are several people who did not read your post correctly and assume you mean standard level 3 security missions (in which case the optimal ship is indeed a battlecruiser in highsec, or an assault frig in low). FW missions are totally different.

Alright, the Hound seems to be working, but is pretty slow at picking them off. Till what level in faction warfare missions can i continue to use it?

For Minmatar missions Stealth bombers are best for level 4. Ideally the purifier because of Amarr Navy resistance is low on EM.

Ironically stealth bombers are better for level 4 FW missions than they are for level 3.

The exception is FW missions for gallente, because stealth bombers suck against Caldarii navy ships firing missiles and jamming.

For Minmatar level IV FW mission the Purifer is the preferred choice, it absolutely breezes through L4 missions.

All FW rats are most vulnerable to their own race's SB damage type (EM for Amarr), and least vulnerable to their default enemy's SB damage type (Exp for Minmatar). So the Hound is the worst SB you could use against Amarr rats.

For level III missions though, an SB isn't such a good choice because you are shooting torpedoes at smaller rats which isn't so effective. Torpedoes are designed for larger targets, such as BS, Industrials and Structure which are the mission targets in L4s.

Your best bet would be to find a friend who can do L4 missions, let him do half a dozen and then share the rewards with you. You will get the standing increase, get promoted which in itself gives a massive standing boost and then you can run your own L4 missions. I'd recommend paying him 1000 Isk for each LP that you get, it will cost you a few hundred million but you will earn it back as soon as you are running your own L4s.

Failing that, probably the AF is the way to go until you reach L4s.

BTW When you get to L4s always refuse the mission, "Cutting the net". It is the only double room mission that requires you to pick up something and return to the agent to hand in. Then it only pays half the LP of the other missions. It sucks.

Some survival tips in a SB, always watch dscan, create and keep distance to the warp-in, never warp to zero at the acceleration gate.

Note that you should not be killing everything, only the mission completion trigger.
