Stop EVE from auto switching channels

No,
I don't like when EVE decides to switch to an Incursion channel just because I entered a system where an incursion is going on. I just lost a covop because I didn't realize it while flying around in null and though the local was empty. This little astero had all the time of the world to find the site I was in and to fly cloaked to me.

Add at least an option to the menu to skip these kind of unwanted "chat invites", thx.

Pff.

Or, maybe you could improve your situational awareness, given an understanding of game mechanics. ie Incursion channel activating in incursion systems

well the incursion local channel is a bane...

I would much rather it also not load before the rest of the game does... I get its to tell you you're in an incursion system if it wasnt one before you logged off...

But it shouldn't be auto resizing my UI and mucking with my windows sizes and position...

There's a simple solution to this: Next time you're in an Incursion channel, unpin the window where Local is contained (i.e. the one that the Incursion channel pops into), drag the Incursion channel to somewhere else, and re-pin your local window. From now on, Incursion channels will spawn somewhere other than local.

Cheers.

An option to turn this off would be great though no? Could give two ***** about Incursions beyond 'oh look there's one happening' and the chat room is far from the only indicator.

I know situation awareness and game mechanics very well. The most important one in nullsec is: always have at least one eye on the local or you will have a bad day. This is exactly the reason why I don't like some kind of a spam program to open a chat window without request and put the focus on it. I just have to overlook that this little sneaky invitation window has changed something and exactly then happens what happend to me: another one entered the system, took his time to probe down my site, fly in cloaked, sneak within 5000m range, decloak and kill me. Before I realized my error I had a lossmail.

Btw.: I don't care about the isk I lost or being killed at all. I don't care if other players kills me but I hate to lose against a computer or a program.

Explain me this then, if your situational awareness is good enough to keep an eye on local, how is it possible that you didn't notice the local channel being replaced by the incursion channel? I mean, there's a frickin' motd in the incursion channels....

Stop asking for CCP to fix your own lack of ability and start learning the game...

This would be nice for those of us who could not give a damn about incursions and their runners.

Fun fact: I as a hauler person sometimes have to cross an incursion several times. Several times I have to minimize that channel into the side bar, several times it pops up on my screen, several times it tells me that I am about to leave an incursion. Several times I am forced to not log off in an incursion system (whether it's feasible or not is not at issue) because this channel tends to go back into one of my chat stacks and resizes that chat stack to the tiny standard chat size when you first enter the game after char creation.

Conclusion: It is a mess.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

That is an understatement. That said, OP should have realized that the 'local' he was looking at was not 'Local'. He got distracted or too focused on data/relic loot. It happens. Not CCP's fault though. If there were no security blanket of local chat this would never even have been an issue.

Death to local (and incursion channels)

The OP's concern was with the Incursion channel blocking local, and my suggestion addresses that. The annoyance of the Incursion channel popping up without blocking local is another issue entirely (and an annoyance as well).

The incursion channel is awful and should be addressed, but that doesn't excuse the OP's mistakes.

Just fly around with the map open instead looking at the stars, then you will see it.

When you jump into an incursion system you don't see the color change of the background and as additional feature the incursion details (typically shown beneath the systems name) stay hidden. The only warning you get is the switch in the tab header of the chat window. Just miss this little point and you are trapped.

So you were looking at "local" to know it was empty but somehow missed the RED welcome message to your new "local" channel?

I don't care about messages, chat, whatever. It's null, you normally don't talk. And yes, even without incusrions I often have red text in the chat, e.g. from sleeper caches, WH jumps, other warnings. Just go to null, enter some anoms, ded complexes, WHs and you will find that most of the text you see actually is painted in red. This is null, not Jita.

All I care is: is there someone or not. a nice icon I am interested in, not more, not less.

So again, I hate it if the client decides that it is so interesting to read who is doing this that it does not only opens a window without asking and leaving you no possibility to stop it from appearing but also moves it in the foreground. It's just like surfing the web without an add block and each time you visit the wrong page a big banner appears "HEY, did you see? The fantastic Sanshas have appeared and offer their service. So come to our shop, visit us, we have special deals with NPCs, you won't be disappointed.".

drag it away from local.

its an annoying chat box, but your specific problem is fixable.

You'd think so but the next time you load eve it re docks itself to the stack of channels and changes their sizes AGAIN...

Only thing i've found to work is to drag EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL out of the default chat box into a new one, and then when you get private convo invites and such it spawns a tiny tiny new chat window which is annoying in and off itself. Especially since with how i have my UI set up it often spawns UNDERNEATH my main chat window...
