RIOT! NOW!

@ Lugh Crow-Slave: "Why waist time building a ship or getting the material to do it

why waist time looking for a fight"

Its just a book, letters!! In an age with this technology, it should be possible to get you E-BOOK of all skills you want - wherever you are!

You compare things you can not compare in polemic way.

It is good to ask questions and challenge assumptions.

Skillbooks do have a reason to exist, as has now been pointed out in this thread.

There is really no benefit at the moment to removing them, so it is best they remain.

If however there was a better alternative, or they prevented improved gameplay and interaction, then the balance reward equation would be changed. That would be a good time to suggest they be removed.

Asking questions is good, we all need to be open to changes that lead to improvements.

Lets start off with this.

So I was toying around the idea of skill markers and organization in antother thread, which led me to think about the "fun" elements of skill managing. How the whole system worked, how to make it less of a hassle and how to make it more fun...

DISCLAIMER: I am new to the game, this idea is crazy! If you feel: anger, anxiousness, rage, anguish, concern, worry and anything of the likes, please watch that 5 seconds video again. I am posting this cause I can not comprehend the repercussions of such a thing.

Idea: Remove skillbooks from Market, totally, forever, gone etc. You still pay for the skills, just don't have to run around to get them.

==== Why? ====

What is fun in the mechanic of having NPCs selling physical books (more on Lore later). Right now, if I want a skill, I buy the damned book, hop into a ship, have to drive a few jumps, dock, train to level 1, drive back to wherever...

==== What this affects ====

Some people do seem to buy books from afar, and sell them to a profit. I have tried myself, and was relatively succesfull. Question is, how many players do this? Is it an interesting emergent mechanic? Is it profitable enough to deem the hassle of getting books good? If you do this, and make good money, please say so!

I really would appreciate your feedback on this since I have absolutely no way of knowing.

==== Is this dumbing down? ====

I don't know what your opinion is, but to me, there isn't anything complexe about buying a book from an NPC and driving to him to train it. Worst comes to worst, there aren't many available, so you open up eve-central and drive a longer time to get a book...

==== Mockup, cause I like doing those ====

I couldn't resist ^_^ brainstorm

==== Lore ====

Don't you think people with clones and freaking Cynos would have some kind of internet? Injecting PDFs in there brains like in the Matrix? I don't know, but it makes sense. Plus where does all the paper come from??? You can't even harvest trees on planets, pfff! :D

Finally, just please be polite when calling me names. This is just an idea, probing at Eve's very fundamental mechanics. CCP is great at adding stuff, but I do personally believe cleaning up is also needed. Removing skillbooks entirely from the market would be such a thing, if not drastic and quite a huge

[presses POST very slowly, shaking and scared]

Didnt read it all... but....

Easy solution: for Your idea:

-Remove skillbooks as trade item.

-To aquire skills, you pay for the skill you want, those gets injected automatically when bought.

-If you have injected skills you dont have yet abilities to use, wont be able to Train until you have the necessary skills Leveld up.

-All normal skills can be bought and injected as long the station has a "skill-injector"

-Players can buy such injectors to put in their alliances's station.

-Spesialization skill are only available in those areas it origions from.

-Skills thats originate from factions/piratefactions, can only be aquired if you have standing enough to that faction.

Dear Doudou!

First of all, thanks for a more interesting post; I like your humour.

Secondly, don't worry about the super conservative biggots, living in space with us: They so afraĆd of change, that if EVE was born with rocket rocks, they'd vote against spaceships.

Thirdly, I'm not sure if your idea is super brilliant, but it's not really bad either; for the whole lore issue, there's no reason they should be only available from hardcopies (yes, internet should be available in EVE, I gather) but there's pros and cons of this, all of which have been mentioned though. None the less, you get plus one: One for the idea, one for your post and one for your way of bypassing the general hate here.

Fly safe, and, lastly, you need someone to fly with in EVE-Online, lemme know - I see you fly with the gaylords but if you wanna try your ships with 0.0 life, lemme know; we need good people in our corp.

WHat is really annoying is a current skills layout you have for a brand new born.

Really should be blanket and let's player to decide what to train etc. You know what i saying - you got that feeling a pvp focused toon with Mining trained to lvl. 2 and you can't cratch it out ((
