Sorry for the newbish question. I know in the past it has been possible to leave your BPO at a corporate office in the same system as your POS. Then you could do research on your BPO at the POS without risking leaving it in the POS.

All of the articles I have found that explain the process are old. My buddy is under the impression that this has changed, and no longer possible. I cant find anything to quantify that. Can anybody clarify that? I tried to make it work last night, but was unsuccessful.

It is no longer possible to do remote research as you describe, the bpo must be in the POS.

  • It is no longer possible to remotely use a blueprint in a Starbase structure. Blueprints are now required to be in the same Starbase structure that the job input / output materials are in

  • Please note it is still possible to remotely start a blueprint, as long as the blueprint and materials remain in the same location

EDIT: This is also a topic more appropriate for Science and Industry than GD!

And that is why they changed it.

Now, to do research, you have to put your BPO at "risk"

Crius problems. Sorry, not making a song for this one. The moment has passed.

Yeah.. I too find CCP's lack of resource allocation for official wiki updating to be disturbing.

Please don't use my name in vain in the future. It sends unneeded pages to my summoning system. I'll let you off with a warning this time.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

you'll also find that all those "remote" skills are now slightly less than helpful....as in order to do more than a single thing with your blueprint, you have to physically move it into whatever array is needed for that activity.

The remote skills are, imho, more useful now that they work across regional boundaries. Yes, the BP has to be in the tower, but you can be any number of jumps away (up to the limit from those skills) and still start and finish jobs.

I'm sure legacy code is a big barrier. Ideally job output should be movable between arrays: Copy job on base BPO creates BPC. Invent on BPC creates T2 BPC. If you could output that to, say, a module array then you'd be ready for T2 production on it.

Remote skills would be very useful with the above as your BPO would never need to move and the outputs could do into the proper array. But I'm sure that type of cross array input/output functions are mess with the legacy code in place.

They need to allow them to be placed in personal hangars. Ie currently they must be in the lab. It should be workable anywhere in the pos. Including personal hangar arrays. Otherwise people you do industry with can cancel your job and run off with the bpo

Nope.

Only director/CEO and the person who started the job can cancel it. Been that way for a few patches now (I think pre-Crius).
And if you don't trust the directors, there's a larger problem.

Yes, anyone can still deliver a finished job and walk off with the BP and the goods, but that should be a much smaller window of opportunity
