- Spent almost the entire lifetime of EvE hyping it.
- Released 1 Captains Closet.
- Used it as an excuse for why they hadn't been working on EvE and wouldn't be working on EvE(real reason, they were actually using the manpower on other garbage games that have since failed or been canned).
- The main moron at CCP said no pay2win and made an internal document about pay to win among other stupid -ideas....including calling us whiners.
- Many of us quit and CCP fired 20% of its staff.

WiS got tangled up in CCP being belligerent and now they are afraid to touch it because they think we all hate it. We don't all hate it, we only hate it when it's an excuse to ignore the core gameplay of EvE.

Walking in Stations is what should be serving as a reminder to CCP never to listen to the wrong people.

They forgot that a while ago, however.

Actually this.

Much more accurate than previously posted explanations.

I kinda liked the idea of wandering around a shopping mall trying on some gear and spending my AUR on a nice jacket.

Its not as if the EVE combat system is all that exciting its basically click target and hit a key, pretty unchallenging stuff.

I always suspected at the time the real reason for the huge opposition to WIS was all the fake women in game were afraid a WIS function would attract too many real life female players :D

Since that point CCP have focused almost exclusively on improving the core game-play of EVE. An amazing couple of years, with recent direction towards shorter release cycles has turned EVE into the best it has ever been.

We all lived through it and on to a brighter future I guess. Lessons were learned by all, I'm sure.

Perfectly well said, especially the bolded part. I'm a big huge fan of CCP focusing on EVE's core gameplay to the exclusion of fringe/peripheral "immersion" stuff.

Thanks - there's a positive outcome to it the whole thing that sometimes gets forgot in these threads.

I wouldn't call it a positive outcome. More of a silver lining.

The net effect was still resoundingly negative, and if WiS had never existed in the first place, EVE would be better off.

For starters we wouldn't have more than half a decade's worth of development debt. CCP can never catch up at this point, with their staff at the size that it is currently + hemorrhaging good devs into Riot.

Think about it. We'd have had a functional POS system by now, or perhaps a working sovereignty system even.

But saying that their behavior and development cycles having been corrected after being slapped back into place by the playerbase is a net positive just isn't true in my opinion. They merely got back to doing what they should have been doing the whole time.

Easy... sometimes players needs to get some steam out... walk to the station bar, get wasted, then end up in a fight With some miner and both get tossed to jail to sober up for the NeXT 12hrs... then ure stuck in a small cell for the NeXT 12hrs... cant undock or do shite.
Or.... hook up With the most promiscues woman from Uedama and end up With a little appointment to the doctor at the Medical bay.
Hell... give players the chance to Waste their last hard earned isk on slots and roulette.

It would give players some abilities to do something completely different for a change within the game...
More like EVE Version of sims.... and yes, it would attract women... which again would attract more men to the game....

Imagen the possibilites... Men gets to play their favorite game and as Leisure, they could pick up a "real" chick at the station... thats even a better, and more accepted, way to get ur marriage destroyed by a "game".... yaeh, i know ure out there.... men divorced by EVE.... ;D

Disagree. On the pre-incarna path, CCP were all about adding unfinished, eh, what do the kids call them these days? Jesus features? I think that without incarna we would have just had years more of expansions that tried to add big fancy new features, which historically were almost without exception broken disappointments that didn't get looked at again for years, if ever. There is a stark constrast between pre and post Incarna expasions, wherein the latter have a much greater focus on improving the game rather than mindlessly expanding it, a perspective which has culminated in the new release cycle.

Incarna became a storm that revolved CCP insides in a way that turned out into something positive for us, with them focusing in the core game play.

WiS got moved far far away ahead, I don't think it has been completely forgoten, a lot of money can be made with that and many of us are waiting for it.

It is a great idea that needs to be developed and implemented in the right way.

Check some emotes and movement modes available at Walken Stations. You know you want them. Perfect for relaxing between those fleets.

Edit: If we do get WiS one day, I want to have dance emote dance_walken. Or Mr Walken as dancer in Jita 4-4 hotel. Or both.

Responding to title:

- Graphics cards melted, (mine included on a slow rising problem while I was AFK)
- Riots were had
- Ship spinning was re-introduced.
- The project was shelved.
- Dust probably got the developers.

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Oh this again, i got a good one:

Due to the vastness of space involved in the WiS prototype - walking has been discontinued, the only option will be running, so you don't have to wait days before you hit a wall or a door.
