Yes but you are going to suck at it initially regardless is what I'm saying.
The correct way to learn about PVP is to fail at it repeatedly until you fail less and less.
I had about 7 months ontop of what you currently have and I sucked.

Had I waited another 6 months I would have still have sucked just as much because that's just how you learn to PVP.
you suck at it until you don't suck so much.
I still suck at it but I suck at it considerably less than most of the people iv engaged with.
I got there by just accepting that I suck, and going out to die in a glorious fire.

Make absolutely no mistake, we all suck at it, just some of us have sucked long enough to suck less than everyone else and the sooner you get into it, the sooner you will suck less than the next guy.

Looks like its all about sucking RollLol Just kidding. I get your point though.

Definitely go "shoot someone in the face" as our dear Ralph said. I started around 6 months ago as well and started PvP as fast as possible. Fly cheap, smart and a little (read: very) recklessly, and you'll learn quickly and have a laugh doing it. Go get em!

Grrr.

Mhhh I think you have the wrong point of view...

You say you need 30 days of skill training to get into exploration... 30 days for which skills? A t1 frig with data + relic analyzer needs how much treainig time? 1 Day? That´s enough to hop into highsec and make your first steps into scanning and hack sites and look if it something that fit´s to you. Even lowsec, nullsec and wh-exploration is possible for you if you learn to understand the game mechanics. And the losses on the road of learning will be much cheaper...For combat exploration it will take 2-3 days depending on which ship and strategy you choose...
How many time you want to spend to get into pvp? 2 months? 3 months? I trained now a char 3 days and 8 hours to fly 2 fits of EvE-Uni and do some experiments with them. That´s enough to lean the basics. Understand the ships you´re using.

You will have to waste some ships before you really understand what you´re doing but it´s the normal process of learning. Everyone before you had to take this steps and everyone after you will have to take this steps. Better ships, skills, equipment does not mean better player skills.

Even if it sound shard it´s meant good. Blink

Any ship on the "free from career agent" list at a school can usually be picked up very cheaply by placing a buy order for one or two just slightly above the people buying 300 of them at some ludicrous low price.

I'm saying 30 days to be "good" at exploration. I'm talking about T2 data and relic analyzers and good scanning skills. Because with T1 I've already experimented in high sec and wormhole sec. I've found that in wormhole space T1 fittings don't go along very well. As I said early, I want to do things the best possible, so 30 day doesn't seem to long really.

I am a PvE person so this info is second hand but you can PvP from day 1 and from what I've heard the large scale conflicts are just fine for someone that is not that good as you are just another number. From what I hear the difficult PvP is the solo and smaller gang stuff. However even then I watched a guy go on a roam with a twitch streamer who was less than 24 hours old. This hours old toon did his part and lived until the end and left fleet with almost 100 million isk which was his cut of the faction loot that dropped.

As far as other MMOs go Eve is very different. Most other MMOs are relatively similar to each other that is they are all WoW clones Eve is a whole different thing.

As far as suggesting a path no one can do that for you. Everyone plays eve differently and you have to find your own way. That being said people can help you try various things to see what you like. If you think that you will like PvP then give it a try.

You definitely don't have to leave high sec to try stuff in low or null sec. You can keep the bulk of your assets in high sec and make excursions into low / null. I recommend to all of your new guys that they keep a high sec isk making base be it a level 4 mission hub or what ever. When living in low or null things can go sideways sometimes especially in null and you loose all of your stuff or access to all of your stuff there. So being able to retreat to high sec and not skip a beat is important.

Yes. Because my income is completely in High-Sec if I move to null it will be at different phases. I can't abandon it completely until I find a stable income at some profession, mining, exploration or missioning, etc...
