Although Crossing Zebras is well known as being the CCP Certified* Number 1 Podcast Of All Time, we are expanding ourselves through the power of YouTube with a new series aimed directly at the ever wide eyed new player.

With our new series, EVE 101, we will cover the basic concepts, ideas, mechanics, and skills a new player to EVE Online should be aware of. These range from stuff such as "what security status is" to "how to use your directional scan."

Full Series Overview:

Part 1 - Key Concepts

Part 2 - The Pilot

Part 3 - The Ship

Part 4 - Modules

Part 5 - Drones

Part 6 - Player Groups

Part 7 - Station Interface

Part 8 - The Neocom Menu

In our first video of the series a few key concepts are discussed that we felt every new player should be made aware of right off the bat. While there are many mechanics, personal skills, and more that a player should have to be successful in the game, these are for introductory purposes to EVE Online in general. More advanced things will be covered later on while discussing a specific subject (i.e. ship fittings while discussing the types of ships).

What are some key concepts you feel are important to a new player?

Oh, and special thanks to CCP for featuring the first video on the EVE Online Facebook page as well.

Do I need to take my directional scan to court in order to sue or does CCP do it for us?

Part 2 is now available. In this video we look at the character each player takes on and how it becomes their persona. Skills and skillbooks are discussed, as well as how security status of both the player character and the system they are in are important in the early stages of gameplay.

I forgot to update this with Part 7, but Part 8 came out today despite the hectic Holiday schedule from the past few weeks.

We covered the Station Services Menu in Part 7 and in Part 8 we looked at the Neocom Menu.
