Siegfried Cohenberg was kind enough to provide an introspective on CODE's philosophy.

TLDR: SC admits that CODE are dicks. He thinks dicks are a necessary evil in the game otherwise it would be boring. He believes that CODE is volunteering on taking on this difficult and necessary responsibility (to be dicks in EVE).

Note that SC clearly realizes the distinction between justganking and being dicks.

The whole view is perhaps slightly more nuanced. But overall the message is that CODE are dicks (who are polite and refrain from using swear words) and they believe that's what they provide to the EVE community.

Please note that SC is one of the more moderate members of CODE who doesn't usually trash talk and generally i have respect for him personally but this provides a valuable insight into how even more moderate CODE members think.
