Hover over HUD Cargo Bay button shows percent Cargo & Ore Bays filled

Rather than having to open the cargo/ore bay (or more often in my case having the cargo bay window covered by another window I'm looking at or reading), it would be a nice convenience to have the percentage filled appear in a pop-up as you hover your cursor over the cargo bay HUD button.

I'm open to other possibilities for displaying the filled capacity of these holds on the HUD.

In all honesty this should be at-a-glance information always visible from the HUD.

Ah, nice. Didn't know about Alt-C.

In any case, I can still see advantages to having this information more readily available on the HUD (either by the hover-over suggestion or some other quickly identifiable display). One advantage being that someone may have reason or occasion to not want to bring up their whole inventory display, which depending on how large they like to keep it, may take up too much real estate in the moment.

Again, thanks for the information, however I would like to remind you of Forum Rule #2.

Here's an example of a more constructive and respectful response:

"Hey, did you know you can type Alt-C which will bring up your cargo hold window?"

Since we are getting picky, here's another good advice for you:

Your cargo hold with strip-miner crystals is the wrong bay to look at when mining..

Eve Minions is recruiting.

Now, since this is about gameplay and conveying the most info at a glance for the hard of thinking, it is a surprising ly reasonable idea.

May I draw your attention to the semicircular blank spot under the cap, directly opposite the heat indicators. This would be a decent place to put an info bar of some sort. Maybe not a number readout of current/max capacity, but at least a status bar.

In the little niche beside the cargo icon there is enough space for a percentage of cargo bay filled.
For the details ,I would personally leave that to the cargo window and keep the hovering as a hotkey reminder.

Edited to be more positive

Indeed. So then why are you engaging in it?

That would be a good spot for an indicator. Assuming it's not used for anything else. There's enough in this game I've not yet engaged in (and ships I've not flown) that I don't know what that space might be used for if anything. So if it's freely available, what better place.

And for ships with an ore hold, it could be split in half horizontally to contain two separate indicators.

The percentage next to the icon works too, if that's easier to implement. (With an option to choose which hold it represents).

It is possible that you could have your mouse hovering readout, but instead of the icon, hover over the info bar(s).
I do draw the line at having hangars as part of those info bars, some things need to be left entirely to the cargo/inventory window. That said, i'm not sold on the ore bay indicator either. I would prefer to have a single universal ship HUD. Specialty holds and such should be left to the appropriate window.

As I stated last time this exact same idea was suggested: No.

You already engage in the laziest profession in the game, spend the half a second it takes to bring the already open inventory window to the top of the other open windows, then click back into whatever else it is you're doing. Stop asking for ways to be even lazier.

its not only for miners as example

mission runners and or ratters in 0.0 space even pvp pilots have use for such a bar
as example Munition / Isotopes / Salvage

and

pls dont attack miners just because we do the job most people dont want todo
it would be epic if all miners would stop to mine for a month or two but that would never happen

Yes we get it. You hate miners. And even more so, convenience.

+1 less windows opened is a good thing, plus I only care about the filling of the orehold, not what is inside.

Every blue moon i do very slight mining,

Other than that I mission, I salvage, i explore, I build things......

On my ship i like the fact of the window for cargo/ore bays.....i can see what is in there at a glance....i can see my est price and know if i picked up something really interesting amongst the junk.

I would prefer not to have the % filled information placed on my Hud as its just one more thing to clutter up where my Combat only information should be...shield,armor, hull, capacitor, module heat, and speed....and now that compass garbage that took forever to learn to ingnore.

I agree with Ian.....this is just more to add to laziness, cause your window can easily at a glance let you know how full you are and it chimes now when your almost full. If you cant do simple math in your head by glancing at something (did i mention there is a colored bar as well from left to right as in empty to full) then your doing it wrong or tired enough to log off an go to bed.

I see no advantage to this. I do however see an attempt to change our UI once again in a way that will be less useful to us in the long run.
