Bring back Dark Opaque theme

Please bring back the old Dark Opaque theme.

At the moment the most similar theme to it is the Carbon theme. My problem with Carbon is that it has a too high contrast. Here is a comparison between Dark Opaque and Carbon, here is another one the other way around. The lower contrast makes it far less tiring for the eyes.

The Caldari theme is close to Dark Opaque by background colour, but it is blue and not as neutral as Dark Opaque theme was before everything was changed. The main change is just a lighter background.

All backgrounds are very dark and therefor either have a very high contrast to the foreground colour or the foreground colour is red/green/yellow/etc. I just want a neutral theme that is not so stressful for the eyes due to it's high contrast. The data/content ares in inactive windows are much better visible too. Grey/dark grey instead of pure black/very dark black.

Better Idea: Let us pick our own settings. I don't like any of these new themes. :(

I find dark matter theme with 65% transparency and blur off a good replacement for the dark opaque theme its not a completely like for like replacement but it ticks most of the boxes that the old theme used to for me.

Also "terminal" theme (green and black).

This would be the best soloutin of course. But there seem be some limitations and/or "reasons", otherwise CCP would have implemented it straigt with the theme changes or with a later release.

I already tried every possible theme. My main problem is the very dark background. You either have a very dark theme (dark background with dark foreground) or a very high contrast (dark background with light foreground). Only the Caldari theme has a slightly less dark background but it has a blue foreground. So there is no "non racial"/neutral theme that has a brighter back- and foreground.

Fully supported.

I used to use the default black theme, but can't use either Dark Matter or Carbon because they give me eye strain. Cry

Another option like this would be great and I would probably use it. +1

I tried barking this on SiSi, after patch launch and even after the current patch launch, I'm not expecting anything at this point.

I've resorted into a custom overlay on top of my eve overview which cuts Gamma to 0.65 all my windows, but leaves non-interface space at 1.00. This makes everything way less readable, but at least the ******* flashing of windows is gone and I don't need to pop aspirins to play Eve.

I love the dark matter theme too, I just wish it wasn't so painful to see what was selected.

So long as these things are optional that's cool.

I for one really like the new themes and look with the semi transparency. I'm currently using Gallente.

Absolutely supporting this.

Dark Opaque or the ability to just choose our own color combinations, please.

My next proposal willl go that way of cuorse, but for now I will limit it to my precious Dark Opaque theme Smile

I don't believe it will take more time to implement it than I needed to write this post...

Some good suggestions already here. I use Carbon myself precisely because it is just high contrast enough to be legible. Ok, maybe it could be turned down a bit. Dark Matter is terrible, because the contrast difference for items (overview, inventory, etc) that are selected, unselected, and mouse-over is practically indistinguishable.

So, Carbon contrast is too high, Dark Matter is too low.

Carbon with blur off (it makes overlapping window awful, CCPlease.....) and turn transparency way down, to 20-25 range.

Something I noticed about the Carbon theme is that it actually looks not that bad while playing at daylight. Playing with dimmed lights in the evening or in the dark makes it really tiring as mentioned in OP.

It'll be brought back in one of the upcomming releases as a "huge new feature everyone's been waiting for"
