Given that I will be unable to babysit orders, I'm trying to work out a pricing strategy on the several dozen Recon ships I have acquired (with the help of a loan from a certain Mr Crackers).

Are they likely to hit their maximum price a few hours before the patch, a few hours after it, or a few days?

should've thought of that long before borrowing money to do so. Roll

I could sell right now at a considerable profit, and already have sold some stock at considerable markup.

Optimization is the goal, not merely making my ISK back. That's covered unless there are last minute nerfs, and that's a risk I'm willing to take. I won't be banktupted if the changes are cancelled and I have to sell them low or hold them ages.

sell them at a price % mark up that your happy with. If you get greedy and go for max profit chances are you will miss the boat and end up looseing profit you would have been happy with and have to sell for a little less.

Been their done that my self.

Now i just make a profit iam happy with and stop watching it as you start to risk to much waiting for the perfect sale if that sale never comes along
you will always have that feeling o dam i could have made more if i waited a day longer. But you could also have made less always easy to comment in retrospect

when u see the lower orders get eaten, they are like alarm bells or like the tide coming in.

Head to wherever u selling them and adjust prices of the 5 orders, **** gets very 0.1 isky when it hits the premium prices than the competition pancakes it. having more orders will let you adjust faster than the 5 minutes. else u will be stuck with the bag.

CTRL + Mouse Wheel lets you adjust price in the .10 instead of just the mousewheel doing 0.01

tbh, i can't see there being too much demand at first, there won't be 200man fleets of recon ships, like Battleships / cruisers / BCs. & when ppl realise the no dscan thing is exactly the same thing as a cloak, i expect they will be dropped faster than prince andrews pants at a Jeffrey Epstein gathering.

good luck

Yeah I was thinking of doing exactly that with mine canary orders while I am logged on.

I don't see recons holding any value in the medium term but early demand is based upon perceived power level, not proven power level, and people over-value abilities that have not existed before. My intention is absolutely to sell them within the first week, possibly within the first hours after patch.

Reminds me of the old cliche, " Buy on rumor, sell on news" .

In Eve's case, it would be buy on announcement and dump before delivery.

I haven't checked that closely but there was no actual material change to recons and a demand based spike should be temporary. There is more than enough capacity to meet whatever increased usage may occur, especially since much of that usage will drop off after people have tried them out for novelty and gotten bored.

In other words, sell ASAP.

I have sold 90 percent of my stock. Shiny New Thing syndrome was real but was less profitable than I expected.

I actually made more in absolute terms from the ISK I invested in regional arbitrage trading of the components Recon ships are built from than I did from the Recon production I did. (I didn't have the capital for serious speculation).

I'm happy but not ecstatic with my results. Profits in the low ten figures from an investment in the high ten figures. Exact results not calculated but I think I turned about 8500m into about 12b, with 2b in trade profit and 1500m in production profit.
