Status: Unknown (regularly, once in a month ... and now because of patch)

For some unknown reason, it works again.
So once in a month, the Client has it's "special time" i guess ...

Greetings.

So, it's this time of the month again.

Once in a month i get "Status: Unknown" for no reason at all.

Everything else works fine ... but the EvE Client tells me "Status: Unknown".

This time though, it's a bit different.

First time i started the client i got an Unknown.
Second time i've started it, i got the note that i should install a new patch.
So, fine, i install the new patch.
Then, i restart the client again.

Status: Unknown. No matter how often i start it up now.

So i thought ... okay. Let's try safe mode.
I started EvE in safe mode ... hehey, 33k Users online.

It probably wasn't the smartest thing to do,
but of course i have installed the new patch ...
... and now i get ...

*drumrolls*

Status: Unknown.


Ping tells me that the server is there, so i can definitely reach it.
I don't have any issues besides this. I can use everything else like i always do,
but the Client insists on telling me that he doesn't know the Status of the server.

Of course i have to unplug my modem again and let it reconnect,
because that - for some miraculous reason - helps the Client to find the server again ...

... but seriously, that can't be it, right ?


Does ANYBODY maybe have an idea of what's going on ??
I accept if there's an error on my side, but i don't see what it could be.

Oh and yes.

Clearing the cache doesn't help.
Changing the port to the other one (forgot the number) didn't help the last time either.

Most likely some SNAFU about open ports and such somewhere at your ISP or somewhere along the road towards the EVE proxy nodes.
Given the fact resetting the modem might fix it, I'm going to say the chances are good it's closer to home rather than farther away.

P.S. Can you still connect even if it says "unknown" ?

gee, works in safemode but not normal mode

firewall?
antivirus blocking ports?

and yes, winblows firewall was suddenly running on my machine again after a windows update patch, so thinking its already off won't do.

Tried again now ... and wtf ... Server is reachable again. o_O

First time ever it works without me having to unplug the modem,
after a dozen tries ... for some reason, i can connect again. O_o

Edit:
But still ... i wonder what the issue is.

It's definitly no AntiVirus Software (^^) and last time i had that,
i turned the FireWall off ... which didn't change anything.

I'm having a similar problem, it's not telling me unknown though

It seems like it is timing out when loading, it is taking FOREVER and if it lets me connect, my UI is mostly nonresponsive, I try to jump and then it goes through the animation and then it just sits at the gate until I get a window that says "Lost Connection to the Server"

That sounds like it could be a network issue between you and CCP... however it could also be something on your computer hogging so much of your bandwidth you aren't getting more than a trickle for the game.

Install anything that might run monthly processes/downloads? If not, might do the basic AV / Malware routine just to be on the safe side.

I had a disconnection after a minute being logged in.
Some other guy in minmatar chat disconnected the same moment i did.

It's not at the same day every month,
i think last time it was around the 23rd.
