Any chance we can get a Devblog about those hardware upgrades to TQ? The video was very nice, but numbers and graphs are king.

The key announcement for me was the new ship skinning mechanic.

I'm both excited and disappointed at the same time.

Yay, we'll see ship skins everywhere!
But... no player manufacturing involvement....

Well, at least it will encourage market activity, so I suppose that's something.

I guess the important thing is that the tech will be there, and perhaps the mechanic will evolve.

They are basically removing Awoxing. Or at least making corp friendly fire switchable for corps.

Doesn't stop reverse safari's. So I guess that can still be a thing. But honestly CCP is literally rewarding laziness if someone check a Killboard, gets an API or so on and so forth. They can catch an awoxer.

I don't partake in Awoxing, and I pretty much find this a horrible choice, only made to satisfy the complainant and lazy.

Sad to see this profession tossed out the window.

Same for me. I don't do awoxxing or any of the other things EVE is famous for, but unlike some I understand how important things I don't do or like are for a game like this. The richness of this game for someone like me (who prefers pve) is learning the pit falls, learning how to not 'get got' while still playing the way I want to, how to deny pvp to pve players in a pvp game while I happily PVP.

Slowly, CCP is taking this from us and that is a mistake, It's the mistake of good intentions and thinking (like thempark games do) that if you make people comfortable they will give you money.

In reality, players don't want comfort, they want a challenge. This is why every time a new game comes out (promising to kiss the arse parts of players) the same people predict it will kill EVE but it never does. Another game i play (Star Trek Online) has all the stuff these people claim to want (perfect safety from other players, walking around, 'good pve', good story etc). If that's what people wanted they be there instead of here.

Awoxxing (and learning how not to be a victim of it) imo is part of that challenge. CCP is going to change it in hopes that this gets players to join player corps, and i'm going to be right here afterwards explaining to them why that doesn't happen. Same way that buffing mining ships and giving people FREAKING ANCHOR RIGS didn't stop miners from complaining.

It's a rare occurrence that I disagree with you, but effectively this change only stops lazy Awoxers.

It will still be incredibly easy to find corps that have it enabled so they can "check fits"... never mind that they could do that with the duel system instead.

It will be relatively easy to talk directors and CEO's into "temporarily turning it on" for one reason or another... if you put a little time and effort into the exercise.

True, it won't be as easy to roll up a brand new alt and be killing the unsuspecting the very next day... but is that really a play style we are worried about preserving. Or do we want to give people one less reason to avoid joining a player corp, and add a bit more challenge to the Awoxing profession at the same time. You have to admit, it's ridiculously easy to do now.

Let us also not forget that even if you can't talk a corp into turning it back on, once you learn who's flying what it's a very short step into just stocking up on the right ships to do a few strategically chosen suicide ganks.

I don't want EVE to become too safe either, but I also want people up to clever nefarious deeds to actually need to be... you know... clever.

It also doesn't help that it's somewhat silly that a CEO could not make such a simple and basic decision regarding his own corp internal rules.

Two things though (and neither one pertain to me).

1: New players especially will want an easy way to determine if a corp has this setting on or off, something more concrete than "taking the recruiters word".

2: Many players will want to know how long it takes to turn it on/off, and if a notification will be sent out to corp members.

On the topic of Awoxers being removed, one can easily join a null sec corp and Awox to one's heart content, no? Or is this just about being able to shoot easy targets, as usual?

are we going to get a chance to respond to the AWOX changes making eve even safer and less interesting? Or is it yet another change that is going to be dumped on us with no consultation? Because all the threads discussing it are closed, with no dev participation, no explanation, nor counter arguments allowed...so yea, this game is supposed to be about risk and reward..the risk is getting removed.
