No one is scanning down level 2s to trick you into aggroing in your catalyst or tristan dude. Most the bears have either chosen to seclude themselves in terrible bear corps where they are deprived of basic game mechanics and common "space smarts". Also many of them think rl $=isk==skill==winning.

No one wants to gank your civilian armor repper fit ship. But if you are 2 weeks old in a battleship... i think you need a lesson taught to you sooner rather than later.

Kill-It-Forward is pretty clear: we are forced to respond to heresies against HTFU on the forums and calls to nerf the game rather than asking people to engage their brains. We offer that education through combat and follow-up with the pilot. Many have chosen to avail themselves of that education for the better (myself included). That doesn't sound like gloating to me.

Oh, like the 2 week old war target toon in a terrible carebear corp who undocked in a completely blank Armageddon Navy Issue and went AFK on us the other day for 5+ minutes?

We were clearly in the right to melt that ship. Left unchecked the skies could one day be darkened with entire FLEETS of entirely unfit ships, with nobody brave enough to shoot at them. An entirely new doctrine of simply saving money on modules and bumping your opponents into submission. Just think of it.

And yet the pilot involved was butthurt at *us* because of it... He should have been furious at his CEO for "tricking" him into undocking in an unfit ship while wardecced for oh, at least a week or so. And yet, there is no call to nerf terrible bear corps. It's always the second guy in, am I right?

This whole program is a farce. It's all about blowing up new and helpless players to try and silence pro-PvE players on the forums. It's antithetical to the principles of free discourse. No matter how much violence these "players" affect, my voice shall never be stifled.

I don't hunt players, I hunt ships. Most of the time I have no idea who I am dealing with until after I've landed on grid with them, unless they haven't bothered to name their ship. If it happens to be a player that's still in their trial period I leave. Anyone else is fair game. To state that we are deliberately seeking out new players is patently untrue.

I have had newbies come racing to rescue beleaguered corpmates in the past, one of them even got to be the hero by blowing up my incursus. Just because they are young doesn't mean they cannot be effective given the proper circumstances. Likewise I've had the same situation go the other way, with the heroic catalyst scampering off into the black with his hull on fire. I don't go after them, but if they come after me I won't hesitate to light them on fire.

Still looking for a nice shiny Machariel kill to put up on the mantle, will of course let you know when that happens.

Okay, i missed the entire ban/fallout/etc mess (hate when RL BS interferes with EVE) so am piecing it together as best i can.

Since my understanding was flawed, ignore previous comment.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

The whole bonus room 'argument' is just a bloody shirt tactic at this point. Yes, it happened. On the other hand it is also not the norm so much as the specialty of one who has passed beyond. To raise the point and spew out 'think of teh chillunz!' is inane and pointless now.
But hey, letting the facts interfere with things would simply fowl Veers up, and the whole 'ancient history' thing is just a poultry excuse.
No matter what, he'll keep rallying, for in the Veers verse men are men and chickens are nervous.

It wasn't that flawed. The bonus room was about players being scammed, then offered the opportunity to get their stuff back by going on TS. Once there they would need to "show faith" by handing their stuff off to various other players for it to all be doubled, tripled, what have you. They were to put though as many trials as the scammers could think of until they lost their temper and quit, at which point the recordings were posted up to be laughed at.

The argument has always been that the player put themselves in there, nobody forced them. But then again by targeting people who had given isk to a double your isk scam, they were targeting players that would be likely to fall for such a scam, and they were continuing the "trials" long beyond receiving everything the player had and so were evidently only gaining amusement by watching the player do these trials at that point.

There's arguments on both sides, and I'm neither one way or the other on the way CCP handled it. I didn't think it was particularly bad nor did I think it was worthwhile to keep.

Kinda sounds like if they kept the shenanigans down like i had said earlier, there probably wouldn't have been a "problem" such that bans were deemed necessary.

Same here.

Last I checked Veers, dscan/probes don't have a place where it tells you the experience level of the pilot. Simply looking at the age of the pilot is not a good measure either; could be an alt of an experienced player and length of subscription is a poor proxy metric for skill. If they're in trial period, I move on.

Shooting at ships flown by newbies tends not to be very interesting for obvious reasons. The tristans and ventures of the world are not likely to show up on my KMs.

There was one case where I was mentoring someone and a newbie opened up. I hadn't looked at how long he was playing prior and melted his ship. I did notice afterward though that he was a very short timer. I followed up with him and made things right.

Oh the humanity.

I still don't understand how you can go on and on about what does and does not happen in these circumstances when you claim you haven't done this yourself. You'll find out the world isn't the place you imagine it is if you'd just fess up.

I will no longer be posting in this thread

I will no longer be posting any newbro help articles on my blog, or in the new players Q&A section.

I will no longer interact positively with any newbros I detonate in EvE.

There is a video out there on 'the butterfly effect'. It, like EvE, is real.

Deleted a couple of posts discussing moderation. If you spot any problem with moderation, please file a support ticket so the situation can be investigated by our CCP superiors.
