So I just saw one of these things transform into it's own station essentially on youtube and had a nerd moment.

Will us small-time folk ever get to experience such simple joys as deploying our small ship into a station or are we just left high and dry with everything?

I want to make a roadhouse ship-station where people can dock and buy things from me. Or just hang out somewhere, it'll be like camping.

You want a rorqual, go to low/nullsec (nullsec if you want real stations)
As for highsec, the closest you'll get is either an Orca/Bowhead or a POS

You're not left high and dry with everything, but with certain things, yes, you are left out of them until you join a corporation that operates in null sec. And honestly it's not like it's hard. If you want to experience all aspects of Eve-O, nullsec is where you do it. It's really not scary and is the most rewarding part of the game.

The only issue for that dream is that...rorqs make very pretty targets

Also there would need to be a incentive to docking up at your particular station as to draw people for the right reasons

we had a rorq that would sell us jump clones it was pretty awesome knowing we had that kind of boost potential at our desposal

Your best bet is for the POS revamp sometime soon according to CCP. But itll likely take a few years more imo. Hopefully they do something with that.
