In-Game Events and Gatherings

Citizens of New Eden,

I hereby announce the community project "Adopt a Carebear".

There are many initiatives to help new players or those who feel stuck in their ways already, but this one will be a bit more personal.
Veteran players and experts of many different professions will pick and mentor a player of their choice for a week.
Within that week the mentors are asked to pass along useful information and knowledge and to give the student some
new perspectives different from their old habits.

Although not mandatory, it would be appreciated if you post reports of your progress on the forums or in other media, so that players without mentors can benefit as well.

To the mentors:

I can not offer you a reward in ISK or ships but you will find that helping someone can be rewarding in itself.
By tutoring just one player you help creating a better, a more interesting space for everyone.

You may be a trader, a salvager, a pirate, a born leader. It does not matter what your strengths are. If you feel qualified
to pass along some insight, give it a try!

To the students:

If you are new to the game and if you start getting bored of grinding missions or pvping in lowsec against badly fitted frigates, and you want to try something new, then this program might be an option.

Truly understanding EvE Online is a hard and long path but there are others willing to help you on that journey.
Become a well-rounded capsuleer. Explore the depth of this awesome game and get in contact with new people.


Moral aspects of this project

Adopt a Carebear does not judge. Everyone is welcome.

Some will claim that this is just another trick to win people for the "undesirable" community of EvE Online.
Let me assure you that this is not the case. I will accept industrialists, mining directors, awoxers and the most ruthless scammers as mentors as long as they are experts in what they do.

EvE-University, Agony Unleashed, Red vs Blue and many other player driven organizations that strive to help capsuleers finding their way are welcome to help. Please keep in mind that the goal is to get two individuals to communicate with each other. This project does not try to undermine the success of those institutions.


How do I become a mentor?

Please send an ingame mail to Martyr Oira or [soon to be announced] with a short application.
I need to know your profession, your experiences within that profession and your language/timezone.

Only information that will help a student to find a fitting mentor will be released. You may contact new players directly and offer them to help. If you should find someone that way please send me an ingame mail anyway for quality control.

I will create a list of mentors in the following posts. If you find someone interesting do not hesitate to contact him with some information about yourself.
