If you are staying within range of the MTU (using sentries for example) do the following:

1) fit the largest possible Secure Container in your hold that will still leave room for the MTU
2) Set the MTU to filter out loot worth less than a certain level. (For example less than 100K ISK. You will find 90% of the loot volume is worth at most 10% of the ISK so just leave it behind. )
3) regular drag the high value loot to the container
4) if a ganker appears instantly scoop back the MTU - it is guaranteed to fit as you were transferring to the container not the hold.
5) This leaves the ganker with a container containing crap loot worth almost nothing.
6) You are now free to ignore the ganker or just warp out depending on how you assess the situation

Salvage may not be worth that much, but if you leave the MTU behind, and return with a Noctis, you can salvage wrecks as fast as you can lock targets since you don't have to take time to tractor them in. The only real time taken is the time to fly back and forth with the Noctis. This will generally be faster than using salvage drones from mission ship unless it was a really light mission, I don't generally salvage those anyway. Just recover my MTU and chase down anything that look worthwhile that hasn't been sucked up yet by the MTU.

Salvage drones travel slow but if u can tractor wreck salvage drones will do well and wont make u waste any time. Warping out and back again make it all pointless, u would do better just to accept a new mission

IMO it's very much worth it.

When I was running missions I was doing it in a Marauder and still was using the MTU. It loots the wrecks and thus it saves me tons of clicks, and besides, I can fit one less tractor and one more salvager due to the MTU. Besides the extra tractor range can be very helpful.

I usually stayed put during a mission and salvaged anything that comes close. With the manual tractor I cherry-picked the wrecks while the MTU just grabs everything and pulls it into range.
Once the mission was completed I looted the MTU and warped out, abandoning the wrecks I did not salvage in time.

Gankers are like mosquitoes - ubiquitous and very annoying, and it's hard to get rid of them. Best thing to do is to not try to retaliate against them. It only makes them more aggressive.

1) When someone you don't know enters your mission area scoop the MTU.

2) Do Info on them and then add their corp and alliance as a contact....red. More often than not 3-4 other people in local will get the red flag as well.

I really dont get it. U cant possible be more effective that way that bringing salvage drones and 3 tractors on a marauder.

Bringing a MTU with a Marauder is counterproductive. Then u can just as well bring a faster mission ship with the mtu. tractoring and salvaging it all while u are running the mission is what its all about
