Is the eventual plan to make us pay AUR for something that will be lost upon destruction, or something that we can apply indefinitely on our ships?

Because I know which one I'd be willing to pay RL money on.

I want nothing more than a neon hot pink Tengu to do my missions in or be able to color each panel of a ship and make it look like a bag of Skittles. That would be great. I would make the ugliest ships possible.

And you're the reason they will never give us the ability to write actual words on our ships.

Yes, that is the eventual plan.

Thank goodness for that. It was rather annoying destroying the rigs on my Dreadnoughts to put the new skins on, but I found a way to upgrade them in the process.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Pretty excited about the feature on the o7 show and Super Kerr-Induced Nanocoating. Can we expect more info on this feature in the near future? What will happen to the old blueprints?

Am I correct in understanding though from the O7 show today that it will still be based on pre-designed skins (and not customizable - instead, just applied, but differently than the current blueprint method).

For the near-term, yes. Nobody's forgotten the Fanfest demo, but what form that takes in the game, if at all, is still up in the air.

What will happen if, say, I got a ship with skin pre release (the release with the skin changes)? Will I be able to apply the skin I have on this particular ship to other ships I buy in the future, or I have to get the blueprint for it?

TIA

I've also a question:

Are those skin related to the specific ship type, at example a megathron skin only color the base version of the megathron but not a federation navy megathron and the kronos, or related to the hull type, meaning a megathron skin color all ships using a megathron hull in game?

What? I hope at places like Fanfest/the-Internet, it's made clear which demos are going to be products of the game and which are not.

Once upon a time the Golem had a Raven hull and it looked good. Then it transformed into a plataduck. The end.

Hi CCP Darwin,

I do not know if you are the right person to speak, but in my humble opinion I think the current concept of painting jobs are wrong. In current form the painted ship appears at overview as a new entit, diferent from the original ship.

I think the paint job would be better if works similar that a rig module. That way it keeps the original ship and just do a visual change. In addition, like rigs, you could trade or sell the paint job, and if you remove it, you lost it, like the way paint job are in RL.

I think the main point are that we will get back at only the “torax” at overview an dno more versions of the same ship / status with several names.

After all, thank you for your effort in give us more information and discoursing the topic.

That's about like asking your children will ones become doctors or lawyers. They might aspire to be that, they might try to be that, but until the time comes, who knows what will really happen?

It's been clarified by CCP several times that the current implementation of ship skins is not how they will be introduced when the real time comes. It's just how the current code is built, and the current ship skins are there to measure player demand for ship skins in general.

Apparently the response has been positive enough that CCP has decided to proceed with it :)

I'd be more interested in battle scars.

And corporate logos.

I've always been fascinated by the idea that battle-scars are good, "right here is when I was too stupid to duck down, and here is when I was too slow to dodge".

OT: CCP please don't use all the manhours on this, there's more important things to do, like finding more performance through game-design so catch doesn't tidi every time what is today a "small gang" roams around.
