The intrinsic and long term value of BPO's

Sometimes I worry about the long term value and the wisdom of holding on to Blueprint Originals due specifically to the manner in which they are seeded. Whether the individual that has the BPO has it for reasons of trade, production or personal use there is always the danger that a BPO will diminish in value when too many are acquired to the extent that many BPO's can be purchased fully researched for near and sometimes even below market price.
After so many years the system seems to be holding together for the most part and continues to offer profitability to entrepreneurs purchasing a new bpo and researching it up for whatever reason yet I can never shake my concern that the system will break down.
I wonder if others share this concern or have made decisions based on fear that the current system is not sustainable or worry that researched BPO's will not hold their value?
Have you given thought on how to improve upon the current system or do you believe the system is sound and will satisfy an ever increasing economy as the galaxies population expands?

I look forward to hearing thoughts on the subject.

Yes, the long term value of my spacepixels keeps me up at night.

What?

I'm lucky holding a ship and it's modules in one piece for a day. Run them blueprints till they fade to nothing. The ISK lost in the process is nothing compared to the value destroyed from their use.

They generate fun, not ISK as far as I'm concerned.

I ganked a guy and he dropped an Amarr Shuttle BPO.

It keeps me up at night while I think about al the shuttles I buy.. and if its really worth actually building one.. or actually mining for 12 seconds for the ore to build one..

.. no.. its definitely not worth mining for any length of time.. I think I can afford 15k for a shuttle, even if it is 20% higher than regional average.

I can sleep better now.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Only for some.

But, you need to factor in the blueprints being removed by exploding cargo ships, and by players quitting. That's what causes an equilibrium in the market. If nobody left, and all blueprints dropped from wrecks, then the price would fall.

If you have any 10/20s, hang on to them. They will most definitely be rising dramatically in price. They have already started a rapid rise.

I'm not going to go into why this will happen. Just trust me on this and don't dump any 10/20 BC and up BPOs at this time.

I worry about the length of my toes. They don't seem to match on each foot. Shocked

I have already noted the change especially on lower end modules. If you're going to start another thread some time please pm me when you do.

There are BPOs I would not purchase at NPC price even if they were 10/20 researched.

The system is sound. Players with BPOs quit the game. BPOs get blown up. BPOs take a long time to research and 99.9% of players who have researched BPOs treasure them and keep them forever.

Players who research BPOs to sell them are a small niche group and their efforts will not flood the market.
