I'm about to run my Raven for the first time tomorrow for missions and everyone has greatly helped me with a fit!

But I'm wondering if anyone could help me with what skills would be best to start training to get me though the missions quicker? Or if anyone can see me missing any skills or ones you feel would help me at all!

I believe eve board is the preferred way to share skills among players. (You create a profile and then link that).

That said, for a Raven, key skills include Caldari Battleship, for the rate of fire and range bonuses, the chosen missile type (torps or cruise missiles or both), the two direct damage support skills (warhead upgrades and rapid launch), but also the applied damage skills (guided missile precision and target navigation precision which won't boost your fit tool dps, but will increase dps in game until you reach the fit dps on a class of ships).

The navigation skills will boost mission speed, and many social skills will increase reward per mission (not the same as a speed increase but still very good).

A micro jump drive equipped cruise missile ship has a strong get out of trouble card vs 'rats in that their warp disrupters don't turn off the micro jump drive you can jump out of trouble and warp off (or shoot missles from a new perch) pretty easily.

May I suggest using the eveboard to post your skills. I couldn't get any information besides your name and picture with the api key provided but that could be just me messing something up.

Eveboard is easier to read and if you are not sure what you're showing to the world with your API you can check it yourself.

For a player new to missions, I gotta recommend the mjd, if anything, just for an escape in case ur tank fails. It can also help mitigate damage.

As for skill, making sure ur fitting skills are high enough to fit it
Get battleship, cruise missile, navigation prediction, and missile precision to at least 4
Make sure ur tank is sufficient for your SP
Pull ur remaining missile secondary skills to 4
Cap skills are also nice, but hold off if you find you don't need them
Start cruise missile V then get specialization 4

How do you use the eve board? It wont let me use my API key even when i make a new one, and whats the ID needed?

Raising these will help considerably:


Cruise Missiles / Rank 5 / Level: 1 / SP: 6,009 of 7,071
Guided Missile Precision / Rank 5 / Level: 1 / SP: 1,250 of 7,071
Target Navigation Prediction / Rank 2 / Level: 3 / SP: 16,000 of 90,510 Level 3
Warhead Upgrades / Rank 5 / Level: 1 / SP: 1,250 of 7,071 Level 1
Caldari Battleship / Rank 8 / Level: 3 / SP: 64,000 of 362,039 Level 3

You will also want to keep raising your shield tanking skills and you'll almost certainly want to add the skill Micro Jump Drive Operation and train it at least enough to equip a large micro jump drive. This would be my first priority! Also launcher rigging because you'll likely want rigor rigs as soon as you can afford them (those will dramatically improve applied damage but the CPU drawbacks are substantial on large launchers.

You may want to raise your cybernetics skills so you can use implants to speed skill training and skill hardwirings that will boost your relevant missile stats (or other stats).

At your skill level you can probably do most level 4s (my domi was pretty bad at the beginning too), but to do it safely you'll need to Micro Jump to sniping positions and try to start with low range rats who you can jump away from before they can damage you.

No I was suggesting that we all start from a pretty basic place. Level 4s with good aggression management (eve-survivial will be your friend) are doable even with relatively low skills though it's not usually a quick process.

Here's how I would prioritize


High priority

-Launcher rigging -> 1. Missile rigs are essential, get this trained asap. Higher if you can't fit stuff with 1.
-Cruise missiles -> 4. it's your main source of damage, get it up to 4. More dps also means less time spent on tanking.
-Caldari battleship -> 4. Like cruise missiles, this has a major impact on your damage.
-Evasive maneuvering -> 4. Less time spent on aligning means less time spent on travel and getting out if things go wrong.
-Micro jump drive operation -> 1. Whether you want to run with one or just try it 1 level is fast enough to train. Ignore if you're not interested at all.

Medium priority

-Missile supports -> 4 (Guided Missile Precision, Warhead Upgrades, Missile Projection, Target Navigation Prediction). Makes you hit harder, helps especially with ships smaller than battleships.
-Drone interfacing -> 4. Extra drone damage. Very useful for getting rid of the tacklers.
-Tank improvements for shield and capacitor skills. Should be high enough for now with some care. Train when you have the damage skills up to speed.
-Security connections -> 4. 40% more LP. Train after the damage and when you're comfortable with your tank.

Low priority

-Micro jump drive operation or Acceleration control -> 4 depending which you want to run. Faster is better and an afterburner lets you speed tank a bit.
-Fuel conservation. Reduces the afterburner cap usage, leaving more for your shield booster.
-Gallente drone specialisation. Lets you use hobgoblin IIs, which have a good damage profile vs most rats.
-Negotiation -> 4. Not that important but 4 is fast enough for a minor boost in income after you've got the more important skills trained.
-Gravimetric sensor compensation -> 4. Less time getting jammed. Won't remove the problem but helps somewhat.
-Signature analysis -> 5. Less time locking is a quality of life improvement that will also speeds up the missions marginally. Could come in handy if you're caught webbed and tackled at a new spawn without a MJD.
- Long range targeting -> 5. You will miss that tiny bit of targeting range on a few missions but it's more of a quality of life upgrade.


Optional: Auto-targeting missiles if you run into guristas and jamming a lot. They're not that good but training a single level is fast enough to try if you like them.

If you feel like you have enough tank you can skip the tank training and go for the cruise missile 5 and caldari battleship 5, both of which are very useful despite their long training times. After those train what you feel like you need the most.

Auto-targeting missiles work beyond the targeting range of your ship.
What does that mean?

Lets say I fly raven. What is my targeting range with maxed skills? 93 km. So with regular cruise missiles my maximum range is 93 km. Why? Because once target moves beyond 93 km I loose lock on it and I can not launch my cruise missiles at the target.

Now. I have maxed out skills. Do you know my maximum auto-targeting cruise missile range? 220 km. Why? Because auto-targeting missiles don't need locked targets. All you have to do is:
1) Warp to the mission pocket.
1a) Drop mtu.
2) Get agro (these days I fit tp for it)
3) Turn on auto-targeting missiles.
4) Use LMJD to jump 100 km away from the rats.
The key here is the agro. Once you have it, your auto-targeting missiles will keep working, all you have to do is turn them on after each reload. So you could be sitting 200 km from rats and killing them while they can barely scratch your shields. And since you don't need locked targets, the gurista/serp/sansha ew don't matter.
