If you need to ask, then there's a good chance it is.

What is the value of a 1 run BPC of these in contracts?

If you can find that, you'll have a better idea of their total worth.

Alternatively, compare the price you are paying + the cost to manufacture against the cost to just buy the ships. That will give you an alternative idea of the value in this.

Also double check all the wording to make sure that what the title say matches what the content of the auction is.

I didn't even need to click on here to know the answer.

If you have to ask then yes, yes it is.

Must resist urge to be flippant and try to be helpful. Sorry!

Ask yourself a few questions:

1. Is the price in line with similar contracts you can see? No = scam
2. Is the location you have to go to in order to collect going to mean you die horribly? Yes = scam
3. Does there just happen to be an inconsistency in the offered contract, let's say a big delta between what is advertised and the detail of what you will get, or is there an extra zero on the price Yes = scam

Well...
1. He had done lots and lots of other auctions too, other blueprints,
2. It was in Jita, in the local chat- you're probably going to die there?
3. It's a Auction that starts at 10 mil and is instabuy at 150mil.

I guess I'll find out in 2 days if it is or not...

I don't see how it can be a scam, it's probably a overpriced buy- so what do you think?

Check his contracts.

In case he has public ones,
check who they are and what they do.

Talk to them. Find ways to gain contact and friendship.
Pretend to do the same things.

Wait.

You will make profit from them.

When I try to talk to him it says I'm not allowed, so I'm leaning towards being scammed, still- it's a good way to blow 50 mil!

Is there anyway to stop, or cancel or do something to stop this bid? Not even anything?

Fair market price on battleship BPCs is a few hundred thousand ISK per run.

Sounds like you might have paid more than fair price but your exposure is limited to 50m if that was your maximum bid.

Once your bid is done there is no way to cancel, just like a real life auction. The best you can hope for is for someone to outbid you. Perhaps you can scam a hapless mark yourself into bidding higher then you? Lol

That's your answer right there.

With the tools that EVE offers and the way the market works (broker market), there's almost zero reason to advertize a legit offer in local. So working from the presumption that everything's a scam isn't too far away from the reality. Yes - you might miss that once-in-a-lifetime deal. But IMHO that's outweight by also avoiding the way more common once-in-a-lifetime scam.

I frequently advertise legitimate contracts in local chat.

There's two reasons.

Firstly, it increases exposure for a contract that is fairly priced but that most people won't want (e.g. if I had a rigged heavy interdictor, the two people in the trade hub that might want it are likely to see it). This is particularly effective for items that people will buy but aren't actively looking for at the time, such as profitable to build tech 2 ship BPCs.

Secondly, if I'm also running contract scams (something I haven't done for a while), legit contracts mixed in get people off their guard.

Don't listen to him! He's an alt of the scammer trying to get you to bid again!Lol

But in all seriousness, there's a more compelling reason why you should not have bid in the first place:

Naomi Isiz wrote:

If all you have is 70M, what would you have done with the BPCs anyway, even if the price was fair or even a bargain? Reselling them would be awfully slow, and building off them would not have worked with the 20M you have left as the minerals for a battleship are in the 200M range (give or take several percent, but A LOT more than 20M).

Only buy stuff you need or for which you have a good reason (that includes speculating of course). Never buy things because you think they are cool unless you are fine with losing the invested money.
