How I think EVE valkyrie could be implemented.

I was thinking back to when I used to play starwars rouge squadron as a kid. In this game you obviously flew fighter ships around.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg2ySoj4i08 A video of it.

The reason I even bring this up is it had goals, in this mission first there are enemy fighters, then you must destroy the bombers attacking the frigate. After that some star destroyers show up and you must shoot the shield hard points. You can also shoot the cannons firing on the sides to stop the incoming damage on your friendly cruisers, and although eve's ships have weapons hardpoints, they don't have tons of tiny lasers to shoot fighters.

Bringing player fighters into big fleet fights, and giving them objectives they can shoot to disable things on enemy ships might just be the option, as long as they have to choose between that and enemy fighters. Maybe modules can take damage from fighters, or shields lose resistances. Making them take place on the actual outcomes, the games could even be somewhat instanced. Take ships on field and make a mock battlefield for the fighters if they can't be in the same areas just intertwined on whats happening.

The only part that gets a bit iffy is after the shields you destroy the bridge to take out the ship. Giving fighters the ability to blow the pod right out of the ship obviously would be a bad idea. I mean in the starwars game, even though the ships start to randomly fly off course the guns still fire, but in EVE the ships piloted by pods don't have much crew.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

Game Over.

Why does the link have to be real time? Or even related to combat? VR could produce specialist Fighter "drones" in EVE as a result of their own matches and such.

Just like everyone hopes they canceled Walking in stations? And hope they canceled dust? what about legion?

Honestly this would be better implementation than dust was, as that's not tied into actual battles. I also see no problem with the 1 second server ticks, the only issue I could see is fighters looking slightly twitchy to capsuleers. I mean they did do manual piloting, as long as the fighters don't look twitchy to each other I see no problems.

FYI I do want walking in stations one day, even if its sheepingly hated as the hate had to do with micro-transactions and a half finished/badly implemented feature.

I don't see Valkyrie being directly tied to Eve any time soon.

There's no requirement for it, and it doesn't really add anything to either game.

...or anything that would require more than the server tick. So fps in space is def. out.

Ive been turned off the whole 'DUST/Valk/Legion integration' thing since those marathon F&I threads about how DUST mercs should be able to infiltrate cap ships and forcibly eject the pilot or circumvent all defenses because reasons.

I guess those just left such a bad taste in my mouth that all threads about integration of either game just look bad to me.

The only integration id like to see is a portal utilizing the CQ door that allows you to go between games.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Have you ever even played Valkyrie? 1second ticks would be utterly horrible since it's very much a twitch based game.

As people pointed out, one second server ticks would ruin the ability to dog fight in real time with eve pilots. You must understand that just halving the server tick speeds have a tendency of doubling the server load, making the server tick speed will triple the load, and so on. While as cool as I can imagine it would be.... I doubt real time integration like THAT will be possible to hardware itself evolves a few more generations. (like those computers that run off of light instead of electricity, or the every popular theory, quantum computing)

Instead what should be focused on is how they integrate with each other indirectly. Be it, that they can bring unique resources from the ground/out of unique areas in space, that affects the Eve online players, which in turn makes it so that they either buy from said dust/legion/valkyrie, or hire them/bring them into a corporation/alliance. However, generally, people in the community tend to frown upon ideas that results in them losing what they own, and have the inability to react to it.

Such ideas that the community frown upon is having their ships hijacked, having them suddenly and unexpectedly lose control of their fighter drones (which are fraken expensive), losing control of their poses/structures(A little iffy. I'm sure people will be more fine with this one, if you can integrate it such a way that pilots can actually respond to it properly to such things as not having their pos suddenly ninja switch control because of their own dust players are afk or away.)

The reason why people act hostile to ideas like this, is because you basically have to write a book on your idea, and have to spend months getting community support to even get CCP to do anything major.

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. Confucius
