Captcha for Gates, bots, inputduplication

Greetings Traveler,
i encountered a problem and an idea to improve on it when i looked at ImputDuplication and Botting.
On many internet Sites there is this thing called "Captcha". If you dont know what this is: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=captcha
We can use this in EVE. For all i know, i do not mind filling out a Captcha once in a while, when it provides content and reliability and less botting and more profit.
What i propose, should make bots and InputDuplication less reliable, better huntable, less mobile, while still being useable and not illegal. Some People find it interesting, compelling and like to play around with it. Fine with me, !!IF!! it provides gameplay boni for everyone else.

Here is my proposal:
introduce a mechanic, that pops up a Captcha window (CW).
The CW appears at a low random chance (maybe 1/100 or 1/1000) when activating a gate or on p=1 when enabling autopilot. On gates, the ship is invulnerable while the window is open.
Gate travel on autopilot will not pop CWs.
When a CW is not filled in correctly or the Time runs out, the pilot that was asked, gets a suspect timer and a weapons timer. An eventual invulnerability is dropped.
The Catpcha Time could be around 30seconds and be extended by skilltraining.
An action that spawned the CW cant be aborted; only failed or proceeded.

Ideas are like Seeds. I'd chop fullgrown trees to start a fire.

Hell Yeah. Now i cant hunt/hurt ImputDuplicators by..
.. traveling to their location.
.. waiting on a gate.
.. if the ID wants to jump through and fails at some of the Captchas or does not cycle fast enough thorugh his manymany windows checking for Captchas, some of his ships jump and some are stranded and unable to jump for some time.
.. shooting the straggling flashy suspects.
.. looting the wrecks and make profit.

Addition and slightly offtopic: add a cooldown of 1h to cloaks of subcaps and spawn a CW on reactivation.

So, thats all for now. I am sure there are still some holes left. I am not a professional designer. So please help me in the attempt to help get everyone a better gaming experience.

Oh look, it's this thread again.

No. Not ever, no. Just no.

Oh, did I mention no?

I see someone hasn't emergency crashed a gate before, trying to jump before the enemy.

There we are, a rational reason why this is literally the worst idea I've seen in some time. And I sit on this forum a lot so that's going some.

look at all these trolls fishing for attention.... just detect and ban them!....
..... going on.
i need the reasons why you not like it. otherwise i wont stop!

@"I see someone hasn't emergency crashed a gate before, trying to jump before the enemy."
you see wrong, but i take it as: "what about when trying to jump before the enemy"
Question: Was crashing ever a reliable way to escape a fight? Thinking about the random positions on the other side. Maybe lacking intel on what you do not see as well, what got you into the mess you are in. No, i dont think so. Its a risk. So you take a "chance". So why is a chance based mechanic bad there?
Of course that is not enough, so disable captchas for a pilot, if he is redboxed. better?
Of course that is not enough, so make the captchas less likely to appear p=0.0001. better?
Of course that is not enough, so make the captcha easier so it is fast. maybe one letter only. but then we could make p=1 again for equal chance/time on all pilots. And suddenly trying to jump before the enemy is more of a game and less like a clickfest.

@"just detect and ban them"
its not that easy. and you do not want to make mistakes and ban someone for doing nothing, right? So testing first may be better.
And did i mention that CCP could raise the propability for C on Jumps based on if that character is suspect to botting or else.

i did not see any captcha suggestions on the forum. so i posted.

to remind you: i do not like to have botting or input duplication in the game as is.

Id usually agree, but the idea is pretty bad mate. You need to think this one over. You cant have actions restricted by a captcha dialog box when losing a single server tick can make all the difference in an encounter

i understand. thank you.

There are however captchas that can be completed in under a second. pictures that need to be clicked on.
Think about how long a transition from one to the next system takes. add some base time for everyone to it. does not seem so bad.

Oh wait. The number of systems in the EVE universe doesnt scale with number of players. People already need to make way too many jumps to reach content. to prolong the time needing to travel is very super duper bad.
So until EVE gets smaller or tighter this capture thing is not something the comunity would be happy about.
Even if it makes finding bots or ID easier. Or if it makes killing these an opportunity.

So how to remove systems from the game or adjust them to player activity? The sleeper menace might have some answers i hope.

Please Close, if "find and ban" works.

OP, you do realise that bots have been able to beat captcha type stuff for years don't you? They're about as effective as urinating on a volcano.

OP, bots are better at captchas than people.

Why do you want to punish people who do not bot?

Some of us can't read the damn things, should we just unsub en-masse?

And do you really think that placing arbitrary limits on gameplay is going to do anything except **** off the legit players? Hell, how many petitions do you think CCP would get every single day demanding ships that were lost due to captcha be replaced? Whatever you might think, crashing gates works very well if you're in the right ship or situation.

In short, Go Away.

making real people go through captchas would also be really freaking annoying.

There are better ways to catch bots without pissing off the real player base.

I doubt it, because you followed that statement up with this.

It's quite clear you have no clue. In this and how well bots handle Catptcha.

because captcha is one of the single most loathsome things on the internet.
i would put up with, and even advocate botting and multiplexing if it meant not having to see captcha in game.

and lets write a program which solves captcha faster than a human.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value
