I know I will get flamed by the old salty crusty veterans for posting this but I do not care. They keep bragging about this and honestly it isn't something to be proud of. Ok so it indicates that the people who played from the start stay with it. What it also shows is that the people who weren't around for the launch of the game 11 years ago leave.

Ok so what is my point? People flame me for it but I have said it time and time again that being new in this game is a joke.

People that start now feel worthless because they are. They will NEVER be on the same level as the vets because they weren't playing the game 11 years ago. Make it possible for people to catch up. EVERY game has a level cap, eve need something too. I understand that it wont be a lvl cap but I have no idea what the solution to this unhealthy trend. Level caps or other mechanics ALLOW people to catch up, this game lacks that. I realize implants exist but why should somebody have to pay that crazy, unrealistic amount of isk for them? Forcing the noobs to buy implants that cost as much as 2-3 navy or pirate faction cruisers makes no sense at all. It is that simple. Flame me if you will but this game needs an intervention on this topic or it will shrivel up and fade away. This graph proves my point.

You'll know your place soon enough, junior.

Just kidding.

Time in game means NOTHING. The Skill system in this game is genius and makes time irrelevant. Ask any PVPer and they'll say they've seen 2 year chars beat 6 year chars more often than you'd expect. And that says nothing for actual hands-on experience.

Don't give up.

Eve has been dying since beta, despite that it's one of the only MMOs to have enjoyed almost continual growth and seen many of its competitors fail or go f2p, and then fail.

there is only a 3ish year gap between the starting age and current age medians that hardly seems to support your everyone from 11 years ago is still playing" claim. Yea people stick around for a while. but hey we always need new players, and as I said people stick around for a while, so eventually those new players become old players.

Then they should be playing something more "fast paced" than an integrated PvP-economic warfare-sandbox game where success or failure depends on "how well you understand and can manipulate the numbers."

Might I suggest Call of Duty or Battlefield?

Every game has its niche.

Skill up for a few months and get some solo fights, you'd be surprised how many of these crusty old vets only know how to play station games and blob with friends.

Hang in there if you're new, it doesn't take long to be viable if you learn to fly.. unlike soo many who never did.

However, change in Eve has already started. Trust me it wont be the new players that will be in tears in 10 years time.
Thanks for your suggestions, though I'm sorry to state that I'm in this for the long-haul.

Change isn't happening the way you think it. As a person with views mostly aligned with the majority of the playerbase, I can say quite safely that CCP isn't going to wreck EVE as we know it.

IdeaCCP would make more money though. I would buy it . the New players would love this even the playing field. However of course The Old playerbase would hate this.

So, being a fearless idiot a couple weeks back I decided to poke a brutix with the pointy end of an incursus. (Truth is I'm usually a fearless idiot, just it doesn't always generate results)
Turned out said pilot had friends in system, so he poked back.
Next thing I know there's another brutix and an exqueror joining in the fun.
After a long and delightful battle my "Lusty Chihuahua" goes up in flames. And I do mean a long battle.
Turns out that the second brutix pilot, who was at the time just over two weeks old, had done not only the majority of the damage but also had landed the killing blow.

My point? The guy couldn't have had more than a couple of million SP to his name vs my nine year old character. If more SP equals win, this shouldn't have happened. It's true, he had numbers and luck on his side, but part of that was due to his CEO (the first brutix pilot) not being a complete derp. It doesn't take long to become effective in the game, and working with others helps fill in the gaps where certain skills may be lacking.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Absolute. Total. Bull.

I see 11 year old players who I could most likely best in a fight. And I'm not even a person who plays for PvP!

Wow, grats for killing children who can barely grasp the game.
You're one tough girl hu?

Much proud.
So wow.

Even in large coalitions where you see 15+ doctrine fleet fits, you can get in the thick of it with just a couple doctrines skilled up (a week or two with some ships (frigates etc.) to months for capitals). I came into my alliance with no doctrines ready and 2 months in can fly 6 or 7 doctrines up to par (i had a good head start). if I fly a tengu, rattlesnake, hawk etc. 1v1 vs a 120+m sp character I always feel like I have the advantage because I know that skills at 4 and working knowledge of my fit works wonders over a lot more SP in the fit.

You have to have a large amount of experience to solo pvp in any ship and expect to get kills (outside of lowsec gate camp).

Compartmentalizing in fleets allows the used of newbies that can play just important of a roll in kills that 10 year old dps vets do.

I've played 100+ mil sp pilots and barely notice a difference from my 24 mil pilot flying the same ship (granted, they can fly more ships/fits than I can).

I mean it doesn't need to be as slow as it is though. I have played a LOT of MMOs and this is by far the slowest and tedious of them all. It has the feel of an Asian grinder game like what L2 used to be without any reward whatsoever to time and effort put in.

Just Hang in there CCP Plans to make this a Faster and better game and not like a old operating system it will be more intuitive remember anything new and disruptive always scares the old because its hard to let go of what you worked for and took years to build to watch it fall to something alien.as long as i get one of those Jovian motherships.;)
