"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events.

Historical player age distribution in EVE Online (2003-2014) - Discussion on Reddit
CCP Quant provided an interesting video showing the historical player age distribution in EVE Online over the last 11 years. Available are also yearly overviews and a boxplot. Data is beautiful!

Devs vs Players football match at Fanfest
Right before Fanfest 2015 we will have a nice (private) extravaganza: an indoor football match developers against players. Check out CCP Puck's thread for additional information!

Features and ideas
Improving the Fitting Experience
CCP Sharq and CCP karkur are looking for ideas and comments how to improve the fitting window and fitting experience in EVE. The replies are numerous and constructive, suggesting virtually fitting modules and rigs, simulated active and overheated modules, and additional information in general. Please note though that nothing has been actually planned so far and that at the moment the developers are looking for ideas and suggestions only.

Graphics
Disabling new environmental graphics in asteroid belts for performance
The new visual environmental effects in asteroid belts (light rays and debris) can be individually enabled or disabled. So if you have no GPU power to share for those new shiny effects, don't worry! Check also Radimir Dvornikov's video from the test server which shows those new visual effects.

Test server
Test server and combat rules
CCP Goliath clarifies some of the test server rules regarding combat system (remember that non-consensual combat is not allowed on the test server except for a few systems). Please understand that the main purpose of the test server is actually to allow players and volunteers to TEST current and future game mechanics, to document bugs and to support QA. Everything else has a lower priority.

Acquiring skill points on the test server
If you lack skillpoints on the test server to test something that your character cannot use, for example a carrier, then participation in mass tests is a good way to improve the skills of your character on the test server. Participants of mass tests receive 2 million free skillpoints on the test server.

Mass tests - why are they scheduled always at 17:00 UTC?
Mass tests on Singularity are usually scheduled at 17:00 UTC. This is unfortunate for certain time zones in the world, but since developers and QA are located in the UTC timezone in Iceland we cannot schedule mass tests much later as CCP Darwin explains.

Just wondering how much more my framerate will drop after these new ' visual environmental effects in asteroid belts'
The new improved UI has ment I can no longer ALT-TAB between toons (I have to minimize the inactive toon)
If it's like any annomily with a dust cloud full of pretty pretty colours, well, I'm screwed as those drop me to less than 10fps.

If pinocchio told you his nose was about to grow, what would happen?

You'll be quite happy then, that you can disable exactly those two features in the graphics settings, as stated in CCP Phantom's overview in the OP Smile

And now that there's an archive with 144 graphics icons I wish there would be a way to replace them somehow in the game files so stuff can have colors again... Roll

[ linearGradient GRAY .... ] - replace with [ whatever you want... blue red green yellow PINK ]
