Greetings Fanfest 2015-Bound Capsuleers!

We’ve been busily working on our plans for this year’s event and want to run something by current and potential attendees sooner rather than later because it represents a change from how we’ve done some things in the past.

Many of our fanfest attendees will know the phrase "We'll be able to talk more about that after the keynote!" when posing questions in roundtables at previous Fanfests.

Traditionally the EVE Online keynote presentation has been on the Friday of Fanfest, a remnant of when Fanfest was only two days. However, now that Fanfest is Thursday-Saturday, we’d like to move the EVE Online keynote to Thursday late afternoon (around 16:00GMT) so we can get all our secrets and new reveals out into the open sooner and give everyone more time to talk about them during roundtables and smaller presentations, and with fellow Fanfest attendees during the course of the weekend.

We think this will be a great change to the overall schedule, but before we set that in stone we wanted to make sure we weren’t going to destroy a bunch of people's travel plans. It’s our belief that most people arrive early enough for this not to matter, but we wanted to open up a discussion to find out for sure.

So, here’s what we’re thinking for the big keynotes – keep in mind that this is just a very, very small sample of what we have planned. Not only are we going to fill the schedule with tons of developer presentations and roundtables, but we’re also going to have more player presentations than ever. If you didn’t read it before, please check out this blog for more info!

Thursday, March 19

  • 12:00 – Opening Ceremony and the Future of VR
  • 16:00 – EVE Online Keynote

Saturday, March 21

  • 17:00 – Closing Ceremony

So, Fanfest travelers, does this work for you and your travel plans? Discuss!

Ok nice, now can you please be so kind and tell your people from Customer support for the Fanfest (the ones that are told to contact if you have questions in the fanfest ticket section), yes, can you please tell them to start responding emails? I sent them about 3 mails since weeks, they do not answer...

The "EVE Online Keynote " is probably one of the most important things that happen during Fanfest... as for 16:00 EVE time is good(will take those two days of work). But then again will only watch Fanfest by stream.

Can we please have a longer alliance panel this year? Last year it was like 50 minutes long and the whole thing was rushed with the moderator constantly reminding the CEO's to hurry up.

I'm not sure if you've actually have a wormhole panel going up, especially with thera, the new 100 wormholes, d3 destroyers and the imminent changes to t3's, this maybe your only chance to obtain significant community feedback on them.

If there is nothing wormhole on your schedule, definitely add it as it will probably take up about half a day of discussions.

Schedule looks fine though.

That change in schedule looks good, makes the FF Thursday more of an actual thing, rather than a day tagged onto FF.

That makes a silly amount of sense. Bravo!

If you keep adding content to FanFest, you may have to extend it to 4 days...

Moving the Keynotes to Thursday is an excellent decision!
The basis for the discussions at the Round Tables is much better and the devs are able to speak more free and the attention of the attendees is moved in the right way.

I cant fault the idea of starting with the big announcements but might have been better to set that out when Fanfest dates were announced. Sure there are people in same situation as myself that are arriving through Thursday and now may miss the Eve keynote due to this schedule.

I know its easy to catch up on the info online afterwards but would be nice position the key events early in Fanfest announcements to people can sort out travel accordingly and not miss out on being there in the room.

Please do bring back the old music. I used to play EVE in 2004 and I am surprised the old music are gone. Shocked

Sounds like a good idea to me. The round tables serve little purpose if any big announcements can't be discussed until after the keynote. Makes much more sense to do round tables after big announcements for sure.

However your timing for this is a little off. Fanfest is only 60 days or so away. I for one have already made travel plans months ago. I'll be arriving a day early though, so no problem for me. But people who arrive (from Amsterdam, in this case) a day later on the 19th will only be arriving in Reykjavik around 17:00 hours (if not later), so I do really think that a substantial number of people who arrive on the 19th are actually going to miss the keynote if you plan it at 16:00.

Would it be possible with Harpa to do the EVE keynote in the evening? Say 19:00, sometime after everyone has had dinner and such? Most people should have arrived by then and be unpacked and ready to go.
