Hm. I consider a vet being in Eve-Online for 3 years 80% of the time and about 50M-60M SP minimum (4+ years and 92M+ SP atm). (I know very few vets 5 years in eve, and only 20M SP, alot of on and off

Sure game changes can implact alot for us players, but I can become a bitter vet when CCP does something wrong, then your friends you become accustomed to quits and alliance/corporation becomes more boring. Then you rage at CCP to hurry up to sort the **** so you can get your friends back to make Eve-Online fun.

I was very bitter vet when CCP didn't make our last AT a very successful one, especially pre-qualifications. It is an annual thing and that's when CCP is suppose to be deeply involved with the players from the beginning planning stages to the end of the AT ... However, CCP started at Semi-finals. EveTV, Eve Radio wasn't involved as a community for pre-qualifications. I tried to, but my FC got mad at me when I streamed. :(

TL:DR?

I turn into a bitter vet when:

CCP did something to Eve-Online and make my friends quit.
CCP not deeply involved with community.
Lack of station spinning, meaning less time being AFK, idling when leaving Eve-Online on.

Protips; if you proclaim yourself as a bitter vet then you are not one. also, the AT disappointment does not make people bitter vets, just bitter.

There are no bitter vets in eve, they all quit on june 24th and made a thread about it. They are no longer "subscribed", just waiting for their 1024 PLEX's to run out.

They cant even hear us...

I was at the stage of becoming a bitter vet, the cause were a combination of things that went wrong eve, an expansion I hated and still consider a failure (Tyrannis) and friends leaving.

Yet I am still here, I don't take anything for granted but have fun at the things I can still do. I moved away from zero-sec. PVP that nearly burned me out the carebear side of things, enjoying what I have at the moment, but avoiding to put too much hope into a future expansion or fix.

At times I have returned to defend CCP again, because some of their features still have promise, even when released too early.

....as if 10,058 Goon voices cried out and were suddenly silenced.

The bitter vets possibly did quit. However, I have a theory that a truly hard core bitter vet that supposedly quit then, could not stand being away from all they knew and loved. So they cut off their noses to spite their faces (and save face among fellow bitter vets doing the same thing), they've all created brand new characters and literally started the game over instead of daring to let anyone know they had NOT, indeed, quit.

I also believe we never landed a man on the moon. But I do like your sig :)

When you resubbed 3 weeks ago and ask yourself "why the hell did I resub again?"

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

A bittervet is simply someone who wants not less. The longer people pay, the more entitled they feel despite the fact that they pay for all the alts they realized they needed to do anything in this game without taking hours, days, weeks, years waiting to get everyone else jazzed enough to help them.

While new players will see something they think is broken and say 'Well, that sucks, but there's this whole REST OF THE GAME to involve myself with,' a bittervet realizes that the bug in question has been around longer than him. Even if CCP says they will fix that issue, a bittervet will know better realizing that they have been betrayed by every marketing or game design decision from the beginning.

The bittervet hopes for positive change just not bugged iteration after bugged iteration that CCP fails to redress, especially if it benefits others or brings more people to the game.

Fixed that for you.
