So I know that this is the way of the game, but is there any way around just getting insta locked every day in low sec while I fly my frigs? I even just got destroyed in my covert ops from a station even though I was warping to a 300 km off straight ahead I got locked before I was able to warp there. I feel like I take all precautions except flying another account one jump ahead and I still get destroyed. You never know whats going to be on the other side of a gate, it just seems like bad luck and I hate that thought well theres nothing that can be done against one ship!

when making an undock just don't change direction and activate your MWD right?

Actually no.

when you undock you do so at an angle of up to 5 degrees from the undock angle. If you came out at the very edge of that then sometimes the bookmark won't insti warp you.

When creating mine i always slightly adjust the path i'm flying to keep the undock exactly where it should be directly behind me. So far this hasn't failed me :)

Covops should be fine at gates, unless the baddies get a lucky decloak.

Cloak+MWD works as well, with a higher chance of getting decloaked.

Insta-undocks always work, if they're made well (hint: most - not all - station undocks are directly facing a tactical overlay cardinal direction; burn that way instead of straight ahead from undock, since the undocking direction is a random 5° or so)

Fast-aligning (around 2 seconds) frigs have a chance to warp off.

MWD frigs with some tank have a chance to burn back to gate (overheat MWD), depending on how much alpha the baddies got.

Other then that, yes you're screwed. Learn common locations for gatecamps, then avoid them (or take a gamble).

As a general rule:

. When you're evasion-fit (cloak, basically) you should (almost) never get caught
. When you're PVP fit, certain things - such as insta-locking gatecamps - will get you; just accept it. If you're flying something shiny, bring friends or at least a scout.

Mwd cloak trick works,Google it.

Insta dock/undock bookmarks work also but require you(or a corpmate) to have been there beforehand

If all else fails Do NOT engage, instead you burn back to gate (overload everything) and hope you can tank it.

no, when you undock you will leave station in random direction about 15 decree angle.

so when you are on range you should use tactical overlay to check that station square is on middle of it.

**EDIT: Just read a little closer and realized you were talking about activating MWD when creating the bookmark, not when using it. :) Regardless, just trying to be helpful.

Do NOT activate your MWD on undock. It's just going to take you longer to reach proper speed and enter warp. Activating MWD is only when you are performing a MWD+Cloak manuever to escape at a gate without a covops cloak. When undocking from a station so long as your bm is (nearly) straight in line with the course the station puts you on when you exit, you will enter warp virtually the instant you select "warp to" on your bookmark. It doesn't have to be in a straight line just relatively close. What matters is that when you undock your ship will already be up to speed for initiating warp and facing in the right general direction.

If you activate the MWD your warp entry speed increases along with your max speed drastically increasing the time it takes to enter warp It also increases your sig radius making you easier to lock and all around will simply get you killed. There are very few occasions when you should have a MWD or AB active while you're trying to warp away. Undocking isn't one of them.

To make an escape bookmark simply undock in the fastest ship you can put together (when the station isn't being camped) activate the MWD as soon as you undock and make sure you're at max throttle. You should speed directly out away from station with only minor course variations depending on the design of the station. Once you're 1000km or so from station create your escape bookmark. In the future as soon as you undock just have the mouse cursor hovering over your bookmark in the people and places window and warp to that location just as quickly as your screen loads. It's a practice I follow almost every time I undock regardless of where I amor who's in local, it's just a good habit to get into.

Use purges and instadock and undock spots. Living in low safer needs to be worked towards.
