Recommend something similar to what Figure Prints does for World of Warcraft players, info here.

Basically, a player's actual ship info with current external fittings would be accessed through the manufacturing company's website, with options for a couple of different configurations (e.g. weapons extended, weapons retracted, perhaps something firing, etc.) The ship is crafted using 3D printing, and when finished, placed in some kind of display case to protect it. Cost should be $100 USD max with some caveats, not including shipping and handling. The ship would be named using the in-game default label, perhaps something like "Ranger Feenix's Vexor" as an example, with that tag appearing somewhere on the model base or display case. The player's corporation logo could also be included!

What would be exceptionally cool (just an idea) would be to have a cutaway ship showing the interior detail. Of course, this means that some poor person at CCP would have to design the interior of the ship first. Perhaps that type model would be twice the cost of a plain "exterior only" model due to the effort involved in designing and creating it...

Scale is an issue. Perhaps everything from Battleship to pod is one scale, and everything above Battleship size is another scale.

An even more ambitious option might be for the player's ship to be displayed as if it were performing an in-game activity (e.g. PvP, mining, etc.) The cost would have to increase (perhaps double?) to show the player's frigate firing on another frigate, or a player's ship mining an asteriod, etc. The concept would be for the EVE player accessing the manufacturer's website to pick their options there and preview what the finished product should look like before committing to an order.

And finally, the last option would be for a player to be able to order whatever they wanted, based on past or present EVE inventory. This might even include Player Owned Structures, etc. The possibilities are endless...Cool

remove all duplicates, if not remove, adjust them to more unique, other than that, exactly what people already said, symmetry symmetry or you end up with ships like the chicken wing atron, the exequor that you are fixing right now. Bantam also looks like horrible.

Seriously, it's the sexiest ship in the game after the remoddeling. But don't do the paladin, you guys already screwed it up in the game by removing the side parts making it a lot less attractive. Also all the other amarr ships, except the omen, no tumor ships.

On a side note, I've been having my favorite eve ships 3d printed with shapeways, but you have to paint them yourself, and I'm a lousy painter. So professionally painted models would be nice, not to mention 3d printing them costs way too much at these sites, hell at the price I'm paying for them, I could OWN the goddamn 3d printer before I had them all printed then pay $100 for the plastic.

PS: Look at the hundreds of lazy ***** that didn't even bother to read the OP and see what the hell we are talking about. This is "NOT" about changing in-game models, it's about getting "REAL WORLD" 3D models of eve ships that you can own and hold.

Make them 5 - 10 cm, from metal, no cheap plastic, with a metallic paint job. Make them shine on my desktop!

With lighting, and painted/unpainted options. (In my case you'd end up squeezing extra coin from me because I'd get both versions)

Edit: should've listened to falcon and read the article first.

anshar - this ship in now way is a beleaveable freighter as there is no conceivable way it can land in a station or anywhere, it s design leads one to think that storing anything in it would be a major pain.

Vindicator.

Important aspects would be;
*weapons included in model
*paint should covey different types of materials used in construction
*its all in the details
*size around 30cm in length would look about right

Additionally, I'd love to see all ship models in both painted and construction kit assembly non painted.

I would pay RL money for a Rattlesnake model. Not too big, so the cost isn't too high, ~10-15cm would be perfect. Transparent plastic or maybe a metal stand to make it stable. Put cruise missile launchers on it if it's possible Cool

With a webcam and USB controls so you can log into the ship and shoot at the family cat as it wanders past ?

I'd really love my own Myrmidon, at about 25cm high, it would make an awesome desk ornament.

Other ships I'd love to see would be an Incursus or a Thorax, the latter especially for very immature jokes.

I'd also sink money into a Megathron, I missed out on getting one when they were available.

I'd really like a model of the NYX, complete with small fighter/drones models. Smile

I prefer my models pre-assembled, hand painted and big (about as big as the old ship models or even bigger) Blink

I'm late replying, but wanted to show my support for this initiative. I would purchase multiple models if available. I'd buy a Tristan to start with, (would it open and close!?), Falcon, Worm, ... any of them! I'd like to have the option to paint, but not necessary. Assembly is fun for me but I understand why it wouldn't be required.

You could sell us modules to interchange between ships, add led lights, there are so many options most likely already covered in the 40+ pages here.

I really want these for my gaming memorabilia case please!!
