80% of statistics are made up on the spot. It is easy to prove too!

Learn to read.

His question is a simple one pertaining to the Guristas Watch site.

His question is stupid and rather ignorant, as its derived from a conclusion drawn after anecdotal observations that he coincidentally made after a patch.

I bet you work in law, or some other "profession" that pretends it understands things (lol economics). Either that or you are just a massive troll who would love for people to stop stealing your high sec plexes.

OP posted a valid hypothesis lol :CCP: break something with a patch I never.... and asked the community for shared data as to understand something chanced based highest possible sample size is best, and this is an MMORPG after all

Im actually in engineering and I haven't farmed high sec in a while (I miss it sometimes)....trolololol nice assumptions though. Also, why you hate lawyers and economists? And....now I know this is hard, but lets try to be intelligent for a second. If I wanted to get him to stop stealing my high sec plexes....don't you think I'd agree with him that something is broken and thus they are not worth doing? Logic is hard, I know.

As for his hypothesis....it wasn't valid...at all. It comes up after every patch because people do not have a basic understanding of statistics. He hypothesized that something was wrong because "everytime i find a guristas watch i do them, after crucible none has so far escalated." His hypothesis is derived from an unknown sample size (likely an inconsequential amount) and the fact that any sort of perceived error must have been caused by a patch. Instead of accepting that escalations are rare for a reason he came to the forums to tell us about his **** poor data.

I think his hypothesis was based not just on his **** poor data, but an externality to the numbers I.E. a patch.

I thought the level of trolling was a bit excessive for his question

Plenty of logical explanations to go with the delightful posting you all refer to as trolling. I don't see the problem.

His questions got so much trolling because every patch there are exactly eleventy billion threads exactly like this with people who have run 4 of [site x] and not gotten a single [desired outcome y]. All we are asking is for people to either a) read the forums before posting or b) get a significant sample size first.

This. I believe the same thing happens with invention every expansion/patch as well. I know it did this time.

Everyone just need to stop exploring... there is nothing to find.

I'll tell you what, go back to ratting, mission whoring... whatever you want, hell try planet interaction, gawd knows CCP would love to hear if any one actually does that stuff. I'll stop what I'm doing and start probing, I will let you know in if I happen to find anything of value, its doubtful, but I know you guys want to go make your iskie.

I know I'm taking the hit here, haveing to probe to find nothing out there, but if you feel sad for me or anything shoot me some isk to make yourself happier.

Dang, they be coming out of the woodwork now. Someone must have sounded the Troll Horn in 'General Discussion' and pointed to 'Missions and Complexes'.

I read the forums. CCP doesn't like to and rarely ever posts any statements saying their latest patch has broken various things in the game. Instead they just keep doing a bunch of little 'Updates' every couple of days for about 2 weeks until eventually everything is moderately close to being normal again.

So please tell us your version of what a significant sample size should be?
