Well. API is only a read only thing.


But if you really dont want to give it out. Good luck in the NPC corps or in a ****** player corps filled with spies and awoxers. 99.99% of the corps ask for a full API or one with limited information. It is basically the same as the background check a real company does when you apply for a job (here they usually ask for proof of good conduct, which basically means that you have no criminal record).

now that I think of it.

Big chance you might be one too if you are that afraid to give an API.

Most places worth being in do.

There are corps that dont do it, they usually exist for less then 6 months cause they are destroyed from the inside out. Be through Awoxing, spies & wardecs or general theft.

so an api key is just a wall of text they cant use against me as in log into my account?

Nope.

It is a code that they can use to get READ ONLY access to your account.

Things like:

What skills have you trained.
what is your skillqueue
what and where are your assets.
who did you mail in game.
who do you have added to your contacts.
How much ISK is in your wallet.
what and with who have you been trading stuff througj the market / contract.
What other characters do you have on the account.


All kinds of things like that, but it depends what you enable and what they require to see.

Api is look only and I would ha 've serious reservations about joining a group that didn't ask for one, I have loads of stuff and I would rather loose it to my own incomitance than some blow-in just taking it from me when I had my guard down.

Anyone with something to lose will likely feel the same as in eve, once it's gone, it's gone.
