Bait Ratting Cane?

After losing a couple PvE ratting canes in null, thought I might try to turn the tables on them. Problem with canes in PvP is that they aren't very agile (got tackled by interceptor that landed after I initiated warp) and can't catch anything. But seems I don't need to go try to catch anything since if I'm ratting out in null they are plenty eager to scan me down and warp on top of me.

Trying to come up with a fit that can do a little belt ratting, albeit poorly, but be able to take out anything trying to tackle me, giving me the option of disengaging or surviving long enough for backup to arrive and perhaps scram a cruiser or something.

I haven't tried any PvP in anything other than a frigate so far, so have no idea how well this could work.

In a couple weeks I'll be able to fly a Muninn or Vagabond and have more options, but thought I might try this in the meantime no big deal to lose a cane anyway, just like to give these nullbear hunting pirates a surprise. A HAC fighting back would be much more likely anticipated, and more expensive to lose.

Plate or active tank, never do both.

For frigates use titanium sabot ammo.

use warrior drones, they are faster.

If you know you are going to be hitting frigates you can downgrade the guns to duel 180s, they get better tracking.

You have 13k range with you guns or something like that. I usualy tackle at 24-25k range. The only thing you can hit me with, is with drones.

Yeah, I thought about that range problem too, looks like medium projectiles totally suck for anything that isn't fast enough to dictate range as AC have such limited range and arty can't hit anything smaller than another BC or an unlikely distance away.

If your goal is to kill their inty, use a bellicose. Tp + RLML will make short work of them. Plus the chance a gang will be scared of a belli is slim. And cheaper than a cane.

Acs are tricky. To reach out to inty ranges you are going to need at least 2 TE and maybe a ambit rig.

Well in that high empty slot you could add a Neut, it helps with frigs too.

Could swap one web for an afterburner if you want more maneuverability.
Force things into scram range where you can web and neut it, mjd away if they want to hang out at distance

Won't work too well for actual ratting though
