Counter warp core stabs

As above i found a venture today trespassing :) so decided to tackle him, jumped into a quickly fit stealth bomber and warped to him, locked him with 1 x warp disruptor I and managed to hit him with a volley or 2 of torps, however much to my disappointment he managed to warp off into the sunset and i did not bother to look for him. So my question is if there is a next time how do i counter his ability to warp off? am guessing i needed more than 1 warp disruptor fitted and locked on him.
Would i be better off using an interdictor? if so how should i fit that?

thanks for looking

all the best for 2015 :)

the venture has 2 inbuilt stabs, meaning you need a scramble strength of 3 to pin it.

long point has a strength of 1,
scrams have a strength of 2

so you need 2 scrams (for a strength of 4) or 1 true sansa scram (which has a strength of 3)

We had a couple of guys camping a gate one time, out in Syndicate. This blockade runner kept jumping through and warping off, I'm sure he was laughing every time at the 2 tacklers. He passed though about 5 times before I could get there.
On the 6th time...there were 3 of us Cool

Plot twist: He had stabs fit as well.

best warp stopper - devoter phobos broadsword onyx and warpstabs wont save you . ofcourse the scripted module , if you are in fleet and you launch bubble to bubble your target , you bubble own people too (if this happens in wormhole or null)

It was a Deep Space Transport, Mastodon.
I had never realized they had a different name/classification, until I read your post. I just called them all Blockade Runners.
(Still learning stuff after all these years. Thanks)

Allow me to recommend True Sansha Warp Scramblers.

To get that Venture, fit your stealth bomber with ROCKETS, not torps, and put 2 warp scramblers and a web and a MWD or AB on it. Best one to use is an armour tanked Manticore.

3 rocket launchers will apply more DPS to a frigate than 3 torpedoes will because of signature radius.

The best ship to use to catch Ventures is the Astero. In fact, the first PVP kill ever made with the Astero in EVE was a Venture, where the Astero pilot sneaked up on the Venture, tackled him, and kept him in place for the kill, much to the Venture's surprise.

I know this, because I was the pilot of the Astero.

3 point strength is just lovely. Also having 40% more scram range than anyone expects has scored me more than a few kills in the past.

Don't forget that the Shadow Serpentis scram is also 3 points and has a respectable 10.5range without heat and is 100mil cheaper than TS.

I fit 2 stabs on my WH venture.

Gas harvesters only have 1500 range... so the 6k lock range is pretty moot.

Although of the 4 times I've been ganked so far in WH space, 2 have been with Bubbles, so the stabs didn't help much.

Yes but true sansa + Fed navy web + t2 skirmish links is quite frankly unfair (particularly on something nasty and Brawley), with heat you can catch kiting sissies at nearly long point range.

The rage in local is well worth the price.

That sounds like fun in a Garmur. Will look into it.

Pretty sure a Venture only has 1 low slot.

Also pretty pointless fitting a warp core on a venture since 90% of people hunting you will carry 2 scarms and not a true sansha . They are like 150mil so a bit over priced for catching ventures.

As long as you have a tank and a Nuet fitted you can get away from a bomber or inty by just over heating you nuet and warping off when they cap out. (Astero has to much gank so you will just die)

yea, 1-shotting them is a much easier prospect

Also, good tacklers (and i mean GOOD tacklers) will fit a Nos since they expected anything they tackle to have a neut, so the small neut theory isn't a great idea. Plus it takes like a lot of cycles to cap out a ceptor with 1 unbonused neut.

Dictor and anchorable bubbles are one option. A scripted warp disruption field generator on a HIC will also do the trick in empire as well as null.
