Bit long, but if you want tl;dr, just reply with what apps you guys use most for your tablet or android phone? FYI, not talking about favorites, but you can if you want to.

Been little over a month owning Verizon 4G Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1. Great tablet for my needs and for some entertainment. I can imagine Tablets will be more widely used than laptops in next 3-4 years, but until then, laptop is still better. Tablet world is still early technologies and need a lot more work, but it is progressing quickly. Plus it relies heavily on the apps and its developers to make tablets suceed.

So, I gotten quite a bit of apps. Most apps do need work to better support for tablets, but still very usable. Even though I am still disappointed that there is no netflix or hulu support for galaxy tab 10.1 and no android ver 3.2 (yes, i am looking at you verizon), there are alot of pros that outweigh the con.

Here are some of the apps I make frequent use of for my needs for culinary classes (and non-culinary classses). The top app I use are:

Evernote. Probably the best app to get for any class. You can write notes and you can attach pictures and videos for each particular notes. Also very easy to organize by category. So far I got about 50 or so notes with about ten categories :-) Two best part about Evernote. One is that it can automatically sync the notes online and when you get home on your main PC or laptop, the notes are already there. Very convinient. And the second best part? Keeps backpack load lighter! Plan on upgrading service.

Then the calendar that came with the tablet. It have a useful widget to show events scheduled in a week (you can change that like two weeks or whatever you want). Doubt if there is any "better" calendar apps, but if you guys know one, do tell :-)

Of course gmail and email apps. Checking email is a new trend and important to check out for. But one thing I hate about this built in email app, it doesn't show any pictures, but it does if you use gmail with gmail account. Weird. Even tried K9 dog app (dont like) and it still doesnt for hotmail email. But those apps, it does sync online.

Then i use the numbers calculators like realcalc, handycalc, and convertpad for all the calculation and conversion needs. But real calc need an setting to have widescreen mode. And i use the calculator sometimes for Eve online :-)

Then the latitude/google maps. Good to use for driving directions so far! Plus easy to save favorite places and to review.

Music. I use the music app that came with this tablet. I mainly use it when I get up 4am in the morning to work out. But I am looking for a better app. Winamp is buggy for this tablet :-(

Ebooks. Another best apps to use. Amazon kindle, google books, and barnes and noble nook. I use all three to find books and compare prices. One of the reason I got the tablet is to keep backpack load lighter. College books is getting there, but none for my current clases, but one. However that one e book is rental. Rather buy it :-( hopefully college textbooks is more widestream in two years. But I do got all Eve online books :-) but I wish amazon and nook have a widget that can flip desired books then instantly load it like google book.

Internet browsers. I use two atm. Dolphin for tablets and Browser that came with the tablet. Mostly no issues, but there are few sites that one of the browsers can, uhm, i guess render is the word, propertly. Hopefully websites will better support android sites. Did use firefox, but for some reason, i do not like :-( Especially you CCP, it is a little difficult to scroll in the textbox.

And finally, nVidia Tegra game app to take advantage of this tablet's power (and similar ones like Asus EEE transformer) for gaming!

I know there are still more apps waiting to be discovered to take advantage of and to make good use out of it. I would like to know what apps you guys use alot on your tablet or on the phone.

Well besides the e-mail and messaging apps...
One of my favorite apps would be Ventriloid. for sure, that has kept me entertained and informed on what's going on with my friends who are online whether I'm on the road or at the mall or just away from the PC. It's too bad they don't have an equivalent for TeamSpeak 3.
The Kindle app is awesome!
EasyTether Pro - being able to draw on the smartphone's ability to go online and tether it to a laptop or PC wherever you have internet service is epic win in my books.
Any Droid flashlight app, as I am usually nocturnal, this helps me get around without tripping over stuff, animals, ect...
If it wasn't for the Alarm app on my phone, I'd almost never remember to do things on time.

An accessory that is not an app but essential for enjoyment on the road I think would be a tape cassette adapter for a CD player... you know, those tape cassettes with a wire jack that would usually connect to a portable CD player before they had built in CD players? Well the jack also fits on my Droid X! being able to have sound from the phone come out directly from the sound system in your car is one of the most inexpensive and useful way of utilizing the apps on the phone while on the road. *Driving while watching youtube videos is strongly discouraged... lol The cassette adapters are also useful with mp3 players.

Angry Birds. :)

I also regularly use Google Maps, Google Navigation (came in VERY handy on honeymoon in Hawaii), Soundhound (like Shazam, but with better permissions/features), gmail, Starbucks, Tripadvisor, Lookout (best security app out there), and NFL Mobile.

(I use a Droid Charge with Verizon)

I do not have a smart phone thus I do not use any Droid apps. That being said I have recently heard of an app that when you take a photo of a bar code for something that you want to buy, then by whatever processes that are utilized it gives you the store in your area that has the best price and some will do web searches as well. As someone that spends a good bit of time trying to find the best deals this tool could save much time.

This is a link to The Bar Code News site. It offers what looks like reviews of 9 different apps of this type.

It is a GREAT app, and it also scans QR codes. I use the one from Zxing, as does my wife.

Speaking of bar codes. Sometimes it work and it doesn't whenever I try to press and hold on the bar code from website with the tablet. Usually try to save as picture. Any ideas on that? The one I use is bar codescanner.

Hm, some of them seems pretty interesting. Can you please describe few of them and tell me what your experience for the following apps:

Andie Graph TI Cal emu - All you need is a TI- rom and your phone becomes that calculator. I have a TI-86 rom in mine but it supports multiple roms. When kids are having geek wars and comparing phones I whip this out and kill them all.

Kontraband Arcade - Supposed to be Kongregate, not Kontraband. Hundreds of games in one app. They port all those silly flash games we play on the web to work on your phone. I just like having one app and one shortcut for multiple games.

Newegg - Where most geeks in the USA buy computer parts and electronics. I'm the entire I.T. dept at my job so it's handy having an app for this.

Wifi Analyzer - just shows what wireless networks are broadcasting around you and signal strength. I used to have to carry a laptop around when measuring wi-fi coverage and when looking for dead spots. Laptops get heavy after a while.

aroundme - Just shows what businesses are around you. Pretty simple stuff really. Just open and pick a category like restaurants, coffee shops, banks, etc. and it shows you whats around you in a 2 mile radius.

gasbuddy - Lets you look up gas prices on a map. Users contribute by entering gas prices around town. I use it on long trips since you can often times save money by driving to the next city for gas. My last trip to Florida I found gas was 40 cents cheaper 60 miles down the road. That's a big savings.

roku remote - for people with a Roku device for TV. It works over the network so you don't need line of sight so you can drop the box behind the tv where it's not visible. I was paying $220/mo for cable tv with a bajillion channels and internet. Now I pay $30 for high speed net, $20 for Netflix, and $8 for Hulu Plus. It's far more convenient than TV and there's a plugin called Plex that lets you stream video hosted on your pc to your tv.

Thanks for the information :) send me an eve-mail and I'll give you invitation for the Google Music Beta if you're interested.

Just got an invitation few days ago from my cousin and didn't get to really try it until now. Apparently all it does is cloud your music and you can access it through any devices. ATM its uploading music to google music and my tablet is instantly accessing them :O The Music app that came with the tablet, seems to be the same and upgraded app I've been using when I downloaded the beta app.
