We've been waiting for this Dominix redesign for what seems like forever.

Yup, current Dominix do not have the grand appearance of a battleship. Couldn't tell where's the bridge, where's the drones coming from, drone control modules etc.

I believe the current art teams that have been doing a great job on the Apocalypse, Moa, Exqueror & Blackbird can definitely do a great job on the Dominix.

PS: BTW, I do like the current Blackbird models but can anyone explain what's the reason for the "eye brow" animation during warp?

Re: Amarr: I've always been a fan of the Prophecy hull so I guess the Damnation would still be on a short list of my 'likes.' My favorite (looking) ship of all is probably the Armageddon. That 'Alien-esque' bow has always reminded me of a battering ram. It looks powerful. I like the design of most Amarr frigs too like the INS, the Cruor, the new Executioner, even the rookie ship.

But I still won't fly a Harbinger hull (despite superior stats) because it looks like a flying brick with nubs. If you were going to give drone bonuses to one of the Amarr BCs, lord, give it to the one already shaped like a carrier. But no, Harbinger hulls were added to Amarr command ships, Prophecies became slowcats, most of my favorite-hulled ships are now stuffed with Gallente drones and I have to train command ships and missile skills now to fly an adequate Prophecy hull. Thanks for the unlimited queue.

EVE is beautiful. I admire most of the ships in game, actually. The reality is that there's relatively few capable of producing a visceral negative reaction.

why noctis is not in Hall of Shame?

Because the Noctis actually looks good.

When the Primae was given out, just about everybody loved it and said that this is how a ship should look for its role and lineage. It was the first ship to have that "open bay with force field" effect.

"Primae Noctis" Get it?

The Apoc will always be the best of the best. Damn Equilibrium of Mankind and their sexy paint job. Evil

Other than it though.

Best: Most Amarr and Caldari ships Mordus Legion, Ore, Blood raiders, Angel cartel, Phantasm and Nightmare and the Jove ships. Along with the Tornado, Megathron, Incursus and Nemesis.

Worst: Just about everything else.

My all time favorites will always be the Apoc, Prophecy, Raven, Scorpion, Rokh and Eidolon.

(the stealth guy really needs to do more designs for this game, anybody know who he is?)

No, he doesnt.

To me it seems like the guy single handedly designed all Mordu's ships, the Blackbird and now the latest T3 destroyers including the Caldari one look like they were made by him too. Probably the Moa was made by him as well.

All those ships have way too many similarities. The surfaces and edges etc, it all points to this one designer, and to me that looks CHEAP.

But already ships of the same faction look alike and it doesn't feel cheap or boring. What seems to be a problem is that the new designs correspond to ships that are similar in look and feel across factions, but that also doesn't have to be bad. Afterr all Mordu's Legion has ties to the Caldari so you could have Mordu's ships inspired or reverse engineered by caldary engineering or the opposite.

As for the new Amarr T3 well, it proves that the stealth guy can do more than lockheed-martiney edge-ridden ships (assuming he did design it, and it feels like he did).

A real issue is the fact that those designs tend to stick a bit out, even seeming like they belong in a different game, but I like to think that they represent a new turn in spaceship making lorewise, the cutting-edge as opposed to centuries and decates old hulls that roam around New Eden. This diversity adds up to the realism in my opinion. It's the AK and the M-16, they are still used today and were designed by different people in different times.

Finally I like the fact that there is a significant decrease in windows and portholes and glass cockpits. A warship cant look like a floating skyscraper. You need thick mumbojumbonium alloy hulls to feel safe in space.

I think.the new worst looking ship is the Eagle. They took the absolutely okay looking new most hull and jammed a buck of fugly crap on the front of it for no apparent reason. I don't think I ever saw a model update that made a ship look straight up worse before.

This game needs a paintshop bay for certain stations.

A lot of the ships out there are ruined with awful color schemes. I was looking at my Ashimmu, which is a beautifully structured ship, marred by a dull silver body splotched with maroon (is it rust?)

A ship like that with a metallic black paintjob, all shiny and stealthy looking would be something id pay for with real money perhaps.

Also the ability to have alliance and corp paint jobs as a template to apply to ships would be a wonderful thing.

I think a lot of the minmatar ships with the right combo of metallic and matte paints might look completely different and for the better, and perhaps caldera, whos ships seemed to get a plastic look after the new graphics, might look fantastic with a metal look to them.

So yeah, paintjob templates for alliances/corps, and a paint job bay in some stations to customize and save templates, to make ships look a bit more unique would be great.

Still waiting for the Dominix redesign...

TL;DR If you didn't read the entire post perhaps you're probably ADHD. (seek help)

I don't care for the Nemesis (the Widow, on the other hand, is great, though I really like Scorpion model in general).

I simply cannot comprehend the hate for the Imicus, however. It's not my favorite Galente design, but I find it to be a fairly attractive ship. In fact, I might go buy one right now just for giggles. In the interest of full disclosure, the Imicus was the first ship outside the starter vessel that I flew back in 2004. However, I didn't stick with it for more than a week, so it's hard to chock this one up to nostalgia alone. I just think there are OODLES of worse looking boats out there (starting and ending with the Rupture and Typhoon).

Also... I gotta say this... I like the current Dominix. I think it looks very impressive.

So I spend a significant portion of my time checking out different ships on the market with the preview window, looking for things to train for or trade, and I must say there are quite a few ships that really stand out as either good-looking or cringe-worthy. But these things are more about personal opinion and taste so I'm curious as to which ship or ships you find to be the best and worst of the bunch in the looks department. Here's my personal choices:

The Best: Nemesis
Runner-Up: Widow

  3. Manticore
  4. Dramiel
  5. Nyx
  6. Machariel
  7. Crow

  9. Stratios
  10. Typhoon

This, but how would CCP make money off of those unique ship skins? Oh yeah, limit the options in this paintshop, and save the reallllly unique ones for these BPC skins.
