No reason needed.

'Friendship is Madness, My Little Cthulhu' needs to be a show.

MLP = good because when you have a 6 yr old daughter:
- it's one of the few kiddie things that doesn't make your eyes/ears bleed
- all of the songs are catchy as #$ck
- They copy/pasted "Q" from Star Trek Next Generation into the show.
- Even though it's a kiddy show - the plots arn't offensive to your senses (...watch 100 episodes of Mickey mouse clubhouse, Dora, or Jake and Neverland pirates...)
- Some of the episodes can be pretty damn dark...
- it's kinda like some of the old school cartoons where they knew they had to sell the the HeMan/GI Joe figures - but accidentally make a decent show along the way

...and then they go and make some cornball movies where the poines become teen girls in an obvious attempt to shill human version dolls... but when we actually watched the movies, wife/I's response was "wow - how come that didn't suck, and was actually good?"

...and I've only watched a few ponies re-runs after everyone else had gone to bed... but there was nothing else on at the time...

To the original question, I say 'who cares'? Gender stereotypes are annoying at best, and culturally oppressive at worst.

I never liked My Little Pony.
When I was five, my little sister would always hog up the TV watching that show. I mean, OK, it's normal right? A show with magical, sentient, talking and coloured ponies for little girls. When I could, I'd watch a little National Geographic or Discovery Channel and watch Bear Grylls eat his own poo.
Now of course, when you think of MLP, you would assume that the audience is mainly composed out of premature girls with squeaky voices. However, I recently discovered something very, very disturbing...
MLP has male fans, AKA "bronies".
I presume that most of you know this and consider it normal. I'm not going to condemn bronies for, well, watching a little girl show, but don't you find it a wee bit odd that there are fully grown men watching a friggin' kiddie show that stars magical ponies??
But what I find even more gut-wrenching is the fact that some people make pony p*rn, and that some bronies get turned on by ponies. Seriously, what the f*ck?
So what caused MEN to watch a show intended for the extremely young female audience?

Try not to wrap your head around it and just go get combat training for the inevitable societal collapse.
(or to be more accurate, the RESULTS of the societal collapse that is already occurring)
