Trying to take on a MMO solo, I can garantuee you. You will have little hair left after 6 months..

I have been playing MMOs for almost 15 years, starting with UO, and I have been largely soloing most of the time. Eve though seems to be the one which has the most boring solo content, which seems to be mission running and high sec farming/exploring.

The more fun parts seem to be all group required which is I guess fine, since it is an MMO, but the game does not seem to have the right grouping tools in place. You have to find a group which fits you and that seems to be hard as I have been largely unsuccesful in it.

I know you guys wont like it but Eve would benefit from some group-matching mechanism. Stuff like Factional Warfare and running high level deadspace spawns would seem ideal for that.

Or even incursions. Would be cool if you could tick in for incursions and once when that happens a wormhole opens up which you can take to the affected system and you would be automatically grouped with others who signed up for it.

some faster travel options could help, yes ... but if you're talking about "instanced" content ... well, there's the doorArrow.

No. Not instanced content. I get that big part of the appeal of EVE is it's persistent universe and it is a big part why I want to get into the game. But the game has a lot of downtime which I feel is sometimes un-neccessary. I dont think many people find it enjoyable to spend 15 minute warping from system to system (in high sec space).

This is not the case. Anything in EVE can be soloed. It just isn't easy.

I solo PVP all the time. It's actually my preferred playstyle. However, I'm a member of an active corp and I recommend the same to all new players looking to get into combat. Starting from scratch, learning what to engage and what not to engage is a daunting task for anyone. Part of that is going out and making mistakes, but learning from others' mistakes speeds up the process exponentially.

A lot of things you learn in fleet combat are worthless in a solo situation. Many fights are won simply by overwhelming the enemy with numbers which obviously won't fly when you are alone. However, there is a lot you can learn. You can practice manual piloting, master offensive and defensive dscan, and chat with others about targets and whether or not they should be engaged. Flying in a fleet helps smooth out the jitters and shows you how more experienced pilots approach different situations. There's a million small things to learn like "warp to the acceleration gate at 10 km so you can still activate but won't get stuck on it" etc.

If nothing else, it helps to have people to chat with while you are tooling around solo. You won't get bored as quickly...you have people to share your glorious killmails with...and people to ask silly questions like "do you think I can take an Orthrus in my Thorax?"

TLDR:
-Make yourself fly with fleets to learn the basics and get some experience
-Don't worry about dying
-Solo PVP is all over the place. Undock and look for it. Just remember, you are solo....the enemy isn't necessarily.

Yes Blink

Just make sure it's all M0 trash, so the killmail is all the funnier. Cool

EVE is fine. There are other MMOs. Instancing is a bad idea. I could go on.

some will say thats is what they like about eve, but ...

is supposed to be a MMO, but you cant party with anyone because at the moment you fleet with someone they shoot you and pod you, same with corporations, you want to make friends but alas, every alt you recruit will try to scam/kill you.

So ... group making tools, are the last thing you will see here... thats why people run missions solo, i wouldnt mind to run lvl 1/2 missions as a new character with others to get station standing faster, but is not expected gameplay. you are supposed to die when you try to be friendly, then a couple weeks later people will expect you to "be social and get in a corp" but at the same time you will not trust anyone and will prefer to be as far as you can from your corpmates.

Your experience is not everyones experience. Corp mates could kill you and does happen but does not happen all the time as you claim. There are random fleets of people too and they have some good ones and sometimes someone in the fleet is there to help gank the fleet. It is a shame that you stay scared of everyone. Presenting yourself as easy prey probably attracts predators.

As for the OP, a match making system would be the start of a bad day for many shiney pve ships lol. Also the wormhole idea is just bad. Traveling is part of the game, wormhole spawning when you get a group is like an instance and could be easily abused by people to move fleets.
