Hi.

Let say you have two frigates team in FW zone with poor PVP intention. What is better combination : 2 DPS ships or DPS + EWAR ship?

depends about players, usually for new players ewar may be more efficient, but experienced skilled players can do more with two dps ships.

EWAR is just damage mitigation (although neuting is also good for shutting down active tanks), so is superior DPS but it stands more chance of generating a killmail before your target's backup lands.

Mauluses have significant DPS. Although the EWAR isn't as great in duos. If you kite a lot then a maulus will be helpful.

If you like random, fit a Griffin. Let your DPS ship have a scram, add a second web on a griffin, 3 ECM mods, some rockets. Maybe an active armor tank. The griffin will add somewhere like 40-50 DPS on it's own and has the best tank of all - ECM tank. Until it fails.

I promise you, if you bring ECM to small engagements, people will start denying you fights on principle even when you don't have ECM.

Ewar.
Crucifier
The ultimate f**k you ship against frigates/destroyers.

Oh nice you have 3.9k optimal and 5.3k falloff? Not anymore, Go down to .8/1! Haha suck that! (2TD on a perfect crucifier v catalyst w/ ion blasters and null)

Oh nice you can do 500dps at 2.1/1.9? Not anymore! Suck that, .4/.4. And you can't track me either, sucker!

Oh hey mr. kiter, how does it feel like kite with a GODDAMN 3.6k OPTIMAL and 1k FALLOFF? HAHA SUCK THAT YOU NUB.

But srsly. TDs will ruin any turret frigates day. Even with meh skills, you can destroy a kiter (pull them into scram range) or wreck a brawler (use tracking disruption scripts).

I recommend your friend being in a brawly ship (coughcatalystcough) and you fitting 2td/1web, mwd and ancillary armor rep. Don't forget to swap scripts as the situation desires.

I've never actually tested this in practice so it may be a terrible idea but it's sound in theory. Crucifier DPS is kind of terrible, so I suggest using 2*nos or nos/neut. It's also the reason you bring a brawler, because it's going to make up for all the dps you're (not) doing, even moreso if DPS is a catalyst.

Oh yeah..
And don't forget to avoid missile boats.

+1 to avoiding missile boats. TD's and the like just make me chuckle as I overheat my rocket launchers.

EWar is how I get newbros who are skittish about shooting another player to dip their toes into it. Suddenly mister Spreadsheet is a bloodthirsty SB pilot. I love you too, Eve.

No, I'm not that kind of doctor.

^^ Do this - It is a great idea.

Last guy who did this to a slicer I was flying - I pointed and played with for over 30min.

I even offered him the chance to turn his ewar off and he refused.

So I did some shopping in Jita on an alt while keeping him pointed.

Then when I decided I needed to go to the fridge for another beer - I got a corp mate to come in a drone ship.

ECM + Sensor Damps.

  • Jam Target
  • Load Scan Resolution Scripts Into Damps
  • Wait 20 Minutes for Target to Lock
  • +20 Points if Target is Battleship
