I'm American and aside from Germany's 80s proto-black/thrash metal bands, I know Wumpscut, KMFDM, Kraftwerk, and Atari Teenage Riot. Even though they are not from genres that I'm very much into, I've had enough friends that are into those groups that I am familiar with them.

I'm not from germany, but from canada, I listen to a massive list of german music... mostly metal/synthpop/futurepop/dark ambient/darkwave/industrial and its sub genres.

Blutengel (darkwave)
Adrian von Ziegler (dark ambient)
KMFDM (industrial rock)
And One (synthpop I guess)
Megaherz (industrial rock) - I know germany has a different label for it, this includes rammstein
Eisbrecher (same as above)
Gothminister same as above)
Rothersand (synthpop)
Lord of the Lost (industrial rock)
Lacrimas Profundere (gothic metal)
Heaven Shall Burn (some type of metal)
Faderhead (EBM)
End of Green (gothic metal/rock)
Diorama (darkwave)
Diary of Dreams (darkwave)
Deine Lakaien (darkwave)

just to name a few

i've seen a lot of them live across toronto-montreal

i won't list them all, and quite frankly i'm not too sure which ones are german or american (because of hollywood)

than the German Media is full of Lie , only mention Rammstein when Talking about Bands who succeed outside of Germany

Then you now have learned something about German Media. Smile

Also I like to add Einstürzende Neubauten from the alternative side of things to the pile of German bands famous outside of Germany.

Yes, and Enigma!

Thanks, OP, for helping me realize that I know more German singers than perhaps from any other nationality aside from the USA. I find that interesting!

Zombie Nation, Paul van Dyk, Tomcraft and Nina Hagen are all German artists that made it outside of Germany. Milli Vanilli were based in Germany but only 1 of the members was actually German.
