Hello dear Ladies and Gentlemen and other People scavenging through here,

I recently returned to EVE and, after searching hours and hours for cool fits, I noticed that most fits started replacing their Damage Control Unit II with EANMs or other Hardeners.

What has happened since Crius that they got this unpopular? It was Quite fun having a decent Tank with them. Any clues for a returning Player? Also, is there a more viable Fitting Database I can scour through to find somthing for a Zealot, a Stratios and a Curse?

Thanks in advance!

Armor resists are more effective than a DCU2 if you're flying an armor buffer fit and/or getting remote armor reps. In this case, an EANM would take priority over a DCU2. Since these fits are relatively popular at the moment, you see them a lot.

Personally, I still hull tank my T1 Gallente ships, so I live and die by my DCUs.

Over reliant mod, requires nerf. Just like every thing else that is deemed "OP" by most of the player base (but the player base is staying silent on this one) that something is OP broken and needs to be fixed by CCP caused everyone is doing it from AoE Titans, Titans with XL guns, Cap drops and Jump Fatigue, Tengu and HM nerf, off grid boosters, Fighter assist, Ishtar being the latest whine and expect that to be "toned down" sometime in the for seeable future.....if a mod is being used way to much, and its relied on to much to give an edge (what others cannot adapt to and whine about, almost how most big alliance relied solely on cap fleets and what happened there....oh right, CCP probably isn't done nerf, nut punching, and breaking titans/supers/carriers) is the Damage control unit needs a reduction in the hull resist for 1 cap cost and 10 second cycle, noting game breaking but for the tech 2 version for example knocking down to 30% resist gives 3 positives 1) More kill mails cause they go boom faster 2) More profits for the traders on market 3) More mining for more minerals 4) Additional is more miners to gank. So yeah it could use a looking at, knocking down the hull resists a bit for such a low cap cost and almost mandatory use in PVP since Buffer > Active tank 9/10 times (assume no logis, just self rep).

Calling DCs "overpowered" is clownish at best Lol

Imo on some buffer tanks for ships with decent structure HP they're great. If you rely on an active armor tank where over time armor resists will make up for less structure/shields, EANM is better. Depends on the length of the fight really.

Either way, DCs aren't overpowered....

Its all about stacking penalties with the DCU really, since it is not stacking penalized against ENAMS or other specific armor hardeners in many instances it is not significantly worse than another ENAM and you get the bonus with hull resistances. There is only one other module in the same stacking table as the DCU and that is the Reactive Armor Hardener, which is why you rarely see fits with both.
