Help with Ganking Hulks

I have attempted to gank twice now with this setup, and both times I have been CONCORDed right when the target Hulk enters structure. I now understand that the intended rigging fit for this Catalyst is a Collision Accelerator and a Burst Aerator, and will try again with that rig configuration next time I go shopping, hopefully with success.

In the meantime, I'm looking for confirmation that a Catalyst can indeed bring down a Hulk after the ROF buff, as well as other general tips for keeping Hulk ganking cheap. I got this fit from Battleclinic, and while it's highly rated, nobody has a Hulk KM to go with it.

I should mention, since it's likely the first thing people will bring up, that I have optimal drone skills except for Gallente Drone Spec 4 and optimized turret skills except Small Blaster Spec 4. I think those are the only two sets of skills that would affect DPS under these circumstances.

solo catalyst?? no.

bring a buddy or two or move up to a brutix if you are blaster specced.

two catalyst can do it. I think a thorax might be better in terms of raw DPS to kill a hulk at minimal cost.

I am somewhat concerned about some Bees in my system. They seem to have lost focus on their targets? Shocked

With Hulks and Macs in the Ice Belt, the bees somehow lost their sense of direction and instead of taking out these poor miners, they attacked my navy Geddon instead!
Being a Beekeeper, I did the only selfless thing, and put them out of their misery, but I am concerned, have they caught CCD? They were very quiet bees as well, none of the usual buzzing in local, no response to my gentle guidance either, very disappointing.... Cool

The ship you described, with the skills you described can do an untanked hulk in a .5 system solo.

It may be a matter of luck but Ive done it with worse drone skills and only one burst aerator.

I've done 1 successful test in a 0.5 system, with concord pre loaded elsewhere :) :

and I had time to stare at my catalyst between hulk popping and concord arriving.

and one failure in a 0.7 but I think that was due to me not pre spawning concord. Hulk survived with half structure but concord arrived awfully fast. Haven't had time to test further.

Same fit as yours except for eccm in mids due to outlaw status and faction polis, and the other difference is

2x mag stabs
1x Beta Reactor Control: Reaction Control I

Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I
Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I

8x neutrons

that combo pretty much saves about a mill P for similar (or better?) output.


I'm pretty sure that you don't even need to bother scanning macks for fits any longer. They can't (shouldn't) resist the catalyst Big smile

Both of the hulks in the 2 kill mails listed deserved to die because of their crap fits.

People.. Tank your hulks correctly so at least to give people guys a challenge when ganking

Let me let you in on a little secret. If the target Hulk is accompanied by an Orca and the Hulk is missing a single strip miner module, watch out. It could be a trap.

I was thinking of a Thorax. Can someone put up a fit that can solo-gank a Hulk????? And does it have to always be T2 fitted? Can you get away with T1 fits?

Can you expand a little more on this? My concern is being able to get security status up again after the gankery. Can you fit mods to somewhat evade the officials at gates and such?

Also, where do you dock if you're not allowed in high sec with a low status? Will the NPC stations still allow you to dock?

2x Shield Recharger II

Lows are all cargo expanders, rigs are all cargohold optimization.

I hadn't thought that Invuln IIs had that much stopping power, but I guess so. What?
