Just random curiosity has PI always been apart of the game, or was it added some patch in the distant past?

If added in a patch, what did T2 items and other PI dependant projects use before PI?

This is just passing curiosity.

PI was introduced in 2010 with the Tyrannis expansion.

I don't even remember what was involved back before PI as I didn't produce anything back when I originally played.

before PI, most of the commodities were acquired through NPC sell orders (who got scrapped a bit after PI was introduced)

In short, not much dependants changed, only the means, before you got it from market from NPC's, after you got it from players producing it through PI.

The summer 2010 expansion...Tyrannis.

MY TIME Big smile

I started with Tyrannis. First messed around with a character for a bit before deciding to scrap that one and start over with JP, cause found out that you really wanted to be a Achura at that time and should prioritize the learning skillsP

You either bought the goods off the market, like for pos fuel, which was sold by npc's. Moved them elsewhere and resold them.

or for some commodities you could kill the random NPC transport convoyes that used to leave the stations and slow boat off grid. Back in the day people would wait till they were outside station gun range and blow them up. You would get random npc commodities, but it was unpridctable. You might get a good chunk of stuff for good isk, or a pile of garbage. And you'd take faction hit when you killed them.

PI was suppose to interact with dust, but that got changed when they did the reworking of dust sometime after announcement. So now pi is the click fest we have now.

Not sure if "note lore" is supposed to be "not lore" but in case it isn't here is the lore explanation:

in YC 112 CONCORD allowed the Secure Commerce Commission to pass into law the "SCC INdependent Planetary Management Act" which authorized and ensured governance over harvesting planetary resources. Prior to that we relied on Empire infrastructure for the purchasing of such material.
