Weird Suggestion: Alternative to Combat Recons being d-scan immune.

Random thought popped into my head. Say Combat Recons had the capability to spoof other ship types.

For example, you right click your capacitor and select something like -> Enable obfuscation mode -> Ship type, and then be able to select a ship to pretend to appear as on d-scan. So, you could appear to be a rookie ship or whatever.

I imagine this could be pretty broken if you could pretend to be say, a carrier or a Titan, so perhaps restrict it such that you can only spoof Cruiser or maybe Battleship hulls and below?

Of course you would appear as the correct ship type on the normal overview when on grid with other players. Perhaps additionally, if you are within say, 100 000 km, the spoofing no longer works on d-scan and your real ship type would show up.

I just thought it was a pretty amusing idea that would still enable you to see the Combat Recon approaching on d-scan, but not know what it was.

I can see a few ways it might be abused or conflict with other mechanics but I kind of like the idea and it would certainly be a unique capability, kind of chuckling at the idea of selecting something like procurer or venture and imaging the thought process of the person who spots it incoming on dscan to them.

EDIT: Or the other way around when someone tries to gank that "mining barge" showing at a belt... heh.

Better than d-scan immunity.

Not to say it isn't dumb. It's just less dumb. Nice OP.

Wouldn't mind the D-SCAN immunity.

If the capacitor stayed at zero, like reducing your signature in Elite: Dangerous by powering everything down and never being seen.

Why do other games make better choices?

Not bad either, except some tanks and weapons require no cap so the Minni and Cal are unfairly advantaged there.

Allow any ship to be mimiced for X time ... at the cost of one BPC run from your cargohold. You want to look like a titan? Sure, but it'll cost you.

Ancillary *something or other* projector - I like it.

It has built-in balance, it doesn't break other ships, it doesn't break the scanner as in that while you get modified information, you still get information and it gives the ship a form of stealth that is new and interesting.

My alternative would be to give them proper resists and be done with it. IMHO we could use truly specialized T2 EWar ships that can do just what they're made for before dabbling into additional gimmicks which make their role overlap with another specialized ship.
