Issues, Workarounds & Localization

Hoped to return after a moderate absence, but have spent the last two days just trying to get to character select. Here is my issue:

Select "play" from launcher. Windows busy animation pops up for a few seconds,indicating that something is happening. "Play" button now reads "loading...", and hangs there for about twenty seconds before rolling back over to saying "play" again.

That's it. Nothing else. In particular, no switch to splash or character select screens.

In the meantime, task manager processes does show that the exefile.exe *32 has launched, but it doesnt appear to have actually done anything other than just be there. I have stopped this process and rebooted the launcher more times now that I am proud to admit.

So far I have reinstalled the patcher several times, cleared the cache as many times, updated drivers, uninstalled and re-installed the game more than once, and performed an Indian-freaking-rain dance...all with no change whatsoever. I have tried several hopeful fixes found in various forums (copying files into the root directory, using eve.exe/eve.exe safe/other launcher/exe files, etc. and on and on...). Absolutely nothing.

In the meantime, I am waiting on a slowly responding dev (or whoever) to assist with the ticket I have place about this whilst time and money burn. (Hats off to Bjorn though, who managed to speedily reply to and resolve a separate ticket filed well after the first). I am hoping maybe someone out there my have some fix for this.

In short, I have no idea what the hell is going on here. Everything else seems to run fine. Ive followed every reasonable tip I can find out there, doing everything from rebooting, to drivers, to reinstalling. Nada. Still cant get past the launcher (exefile.exe launches, but does nothing else from there).

Any ideas?

Same here.

Looks like some folks have found a workaround but it's not working for me.

Try the launcher: is just cycles endlessly. Lists "Launching" but then goes back to play.
Try using the .exe file but it won't start the client either.
Tried uninstalling, and re-installing. Same thing.

Very frustrating.
