Serpentis attacking ORE miners

Does Serpentis truly own and oversee ORE operations? I am wondering, because I have Serpentis battleships pursuing me while I try to fulfill ORE mining contracts in the Outer Ring.

Dude, you're really lucky it's just Serps, and not other eggers with their glassy eyes already displaying your killmail.

Outer Ring is full of Serpentis, anyway. Belts, gates, whatever. Unless they actually actively pursue you from system to system I fail to see any news here.

I must protest these working conditions!!! Being targeted by my boss's boss is not cool at all. I think I will find employment else where the employer has to the good sense to not try to blast their employees into the coldness of space.

You're trying to project logic, foresight and sensibility onto a bunch of literal methheads. Any Serpentis captain who engages a capsuleer is either stupid, high, desperate, being punished by a superior, taking gigantic risks to try and prove he deserves his superior's job or has had a problem with his navigation system.

As well you should!

Perhaps you should seek other employment? Perhaps with a nice start-up corporation in say, Black Rise?

Serpents, Rabbits, Angels, Bees...these pirates grow unimaginative.

Sounds tempting, but you see I am allergic to bees and waffles.

You're an independent contractor who is not actually an ORE employee. Serpentis are not obligated to protect you.

In addition to not being under any obligation to protect you, Serpentis is a very large organization. Just as with corporations elsewhere, different groups within the larger whole may have differing visions of what is best for Serpentis as a whole.

Furthermore, they are one of the earliest models of the modern "pirate corporation" model. Legitimate business endeavors often intertwine with criminal operations until the two are indistinguishable. There is every possibility that it was decided behind closed doors that it would be more profitable to destroy your ship and call the mission a loss than to allow you to complete your objectives. Valuable ores in their territory increase in value in direct proportion to the risk involved in acquiring them.

No, I'm not that kind of doctor.

Also, you wern't flying Serp colours. It makes all the difference.

A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go.

Fly a Procurer or a Skiff.

The Serpentis will still attack you, but they - along with almost any capsuleer - will be much less likely to kill you. If you're good enough with drones, you might well kill them instead.

Procurers are great! Sure, you have less cargo space but you could murder the everloving snot out of anything short of a fleet while mining!

Skiffs are, of course, even better!

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

I got ambushed by a Firetail out in nullsec while I was mining in my Procurer recently.

He fled from me in 12% structure. I didn't even turn off my mining lasers during the fight.

Let's see... Claims to be working for ORE, has a SOE T-Shirt and is an EVEUni undergraduate. Hmm...

Nope, can't think of a reason why they would attack you!

Or maybe they attacked you because they are pirates and pirates always shoot without ever asking questions! Scum of New Eden those Serpentis Pirates.

Serpentis are like all other pirate organizations in New Eden, scum! As such they have no regard for law-and-order and will attack anyone. I recommend next time they try to assault you, you give them their just deserve in the form of several swift blaster volleys.

You might also consider that your hull is worth more to the Serpentis than your hard work in the belts. Also, you are still a Capsuleer. I would wager in good standing to forces in the Galaxy that work against Serpentis. Why should a random Serpentis captain give a single care at all for your life over his profit?

I used to mission in a proc, kill the mission targets + lode your ore hold with roids from the mission site = profit.

As a seasoned Firetail pilot, I'd like to make two observations while I giggle my @$$ off:
1 - that Firetail pilot was not...
2 - he got what he deserved from no.1

Good work!
